Actually, no. I forgot about Purchase leaving late and opening up the spot that Waddell took. Based on what I've seen, there is little to no chance that Trayvon is still on the team though.

Did the basketball team begin fall practice today?

Na, the rumor is that Trayvon isn't signed up for classes.

quote:Spencer was never in question. always had the grades. No reason to laugh at them about Danjel either. It took a Herculean senior year and a high SAT score to get him qualified.
So we can point and laugh at the people who said him and Spencer weren't going to qualify.

Maybe they did start practice, not sure. I'd bet they did at least start conditioning though.

The NCAA doesn't allow teams to begin practice until 42 days before the first game. During those 42 days you can have 30 practices.
Auburn has 87 days until our first game so we're nowhere near practice yet. Right now they'll be doing early morning weight lifting, afternoon conditioning, and maybe 6 or so hours per week of walkthrough instruction (I can't remember how many we had per week)
Usual schedule was 5:30 am workout, 6:30 or so conditioning, and then time to shower and get to class. Afternoon conditioning started around 2:30-3:00 and ran for 25-45 minutes depending upon the type of exercises followed by a little instruction time afterward.
Right now it's about getting lean and finishing workout goals that you started in May. Defensive footwork, agility training, quick reaction movement, lung work, and baseline to baseline endurance runs were the main conditioning focuses.
EDIT: And in my opinion August and early September are some of the most fun for our guys because they're building team morale, making one last push, and setting goals for the upcoming year. Best part of the offseason and a breath of relaxation (comparatively) before the grind of long practices, school responsibilities, and midweek travel sets in.

Yeah, I didn't think that sounded right. We had a fall and spring season in golf. I think we practiced every day when school started.

Glad to share the little experience I do have in SEC hoops I'm out of the loop when it comes to football so I hope I can make up for it here

Rig, awesome post. The only thing I would add as a former player, is that they're playing a lot of basketball together as well, just not with coaches always present or coaching. Allowing them to learn each other on their own. Team chemistry isn't something that is always coached.

Apparently the Wake-Up Coffee van blew it's clutch and CBP helped push them to safety on Samford...pretty cool!

Not a former player at AU. I should've clarified that... but it was 2 in the morning. All I was saying is that I'm familiar with the year around grind and schedule is all because I lived it

Did you wear a headband?

Only when I played for the Flint Tropics...

We had "voluntary" practices all during the Summer when I played. Mon/Tu/Th 6pm-8pm, and you were allowed to miss one week to vacation w/ Family.
It was tough, but we were better than everyone else once the season rolled around.
