I didn't want Wallace to redshirt, but if he continues to make this much progress then I don't think we necessarily have a choice.

This what I've been trying to figure out. The Coaches & players have been very high on him since he stepped on Campus. With Clint being Clint - I could see a scenario on which he had to play this season.

However, Ive wondered how this affects future QB recruiting. We have Johnson coming next year & Keihl could play all four years. It's important to have depth but how is it distributed over recruiting classes

I see what you're saying about recruiting. However, if you find a good QB, no matter what he was rated, then you have to protect his future production. If that means redshirting him and clouding up the depth chart then you do it.

So you're saying Redshirt him this year for development and to reduce wear & tear? That makes sense.

We would just have to role the dice with Clint as the back-up this year & hope for the best

At this point Wallace is probably our best QB. Starter will be named tomorrow after team meeting / practice.

you seriously think Wallace is above Frazier? That would be a major upset to me. Get a scholarship on signing day and then start the opener against Clemson. Major shocker if it happens.

I think Frazier is by far our best QB, you just won't hear the coaches praising him like Wallace because he's not named the starter yet.

It seems like Wallace came in with a chip on his shoulder because he was picked so late by the school in his backyard and everyone was guaranteeing that he would change positions once he got on campus.

That may still happen but it appears that he is working hard to prove everyone wrong. You have to admire him for that

I wish we could suit up Reuben Foster right now. I'm just glad Holland has been getting major praise here lately. We really need for the linebacker play to come through this year.

if Wallace is our best QB, we are in trouble. Not a good thing if a true freshman with 2 weeks of practice is the best QB.

No no I didnt mean to imply that wallace will play this year. I think he will redshirt unless Clints arm doesnt get
better fast. I was just saying wallace has out performed all the qbs this fall. I think any coach would tell you that off the record

He hasn't outperformed Frazier... Sure, he's outperformed Moseley, but it is Moseley, and he has a hurt shoulder. Not hard to do.

I don't think Frazier is as far ahead as many beleive but of course he wins the job by default. Cam Luper announcing the 21st.

FWIW, players aren't supposed to give out stats on Frazier and Clint and they're supposed to direct attention away from their performance in these scrimmages.

Wallace might be the best QB we have, I personally don't believe so, but anyone who thinks he is shouldn't base it on the amount of praise he has gotten or some of the stats released.

Just some food for thought. I think it goes without saying that Frazier is the starter and will be named as such (tomorrow?).

It's Fraizer, but you're right. ~2 weeks and we're playing. Time to name a starter.

The reason Wallace gets talked up is because of the standard he's being held to i.e. incoming freshman who wasn't expected to do anything. Frazier on the other hand is expected to execute this offense day one against clemson. If the two's roles were reversed Frazier would be getting even more praise than wallace is. Frazier gives us a much better chance to win

Covering Auburn football has to be the most boring job in America when it comes to beat writers.

Those guys get nothing and have to pull teeth just to get some kind of answer out of the coaches and players.

I just don't get why Chiz has such a tight lid on the program as a whole.

If he's winning games, he can do whatever he wants, but he needs to start winning some without Cam and Nick.
