And is it time to panic?

Julio is in the middle of his worst season so far, and it is all due to his problems pitching at home. At SunTrust, he is 1-6 with a 7.58 ERA and an opponent average of .298. He gives up a home run every 3.5 innings at home.

On the road, he is 5-0 with an ERA of 2.89. He gives up a home run every 7.2 innings on the road. He's a completely different pitcher.

Anyone have any ideas?

I think the new ballpark hasn't necessarily played into his strengths as a pitcher -- He gets a lot of fly ball outs and with STP being a hitter-friendly park he's struggling to adapt and therefore getting shellacked.

The guy also seems to lose his confidence super easily so he's probably not going out there with the best frame of mind, either.

Probably not time to panic yet, but he's going to have to figure out a different approach at home...don't know if he'd necessarily be on the trade block soon but I can't watch many more days like his last start.

As you can see, Julio has always been an extreme fly ball pitcher. He got away with it in Turner Field because it was a big stadium, but its killing him now. It also hurts that his strike outs are at an all time low, and his walks are back to his career norm, showing that last year was a blip.

Man you're making up some BS calling his walk rate of over 3 a career norm. He has had a walk rate of around 2 in 2013, 2014, and 20l6, and of over 3 in 2015 when he was injured, and this year when he has just straight sucked.

The stadium has of course hurt him a great deal by increasing HR given up, but Julio's biggest problem this year is lack of control, particularly of his fastball. He's not hitting his spots even when he is in the zone, and he's getting drilled because of it (the declining fastball speed doesn't help either).

Teheran has been grooving balls right down the middle of the plate with no velocity to help protect him. I honestly think it doesn't matter what stadium he is playing in. It's not as if these balls are sneaking over the fence. They are getting absolutely crushed.

It's a pretty small sample size to go by using his home/away splits through half of a season. Just recently he gave up 7 or 8 runs on the road. He did ok early on when we were on the road playing in cold weather.

I could be completely off, but JT kind of reminds me of a guy who has relied on talent his entire career, and no conditioning. Age will fight him as he inches closer to 30. Tim Lincecum comes to mind.

I'll take blame for being the straw. I attended my first game of the season. Of course it was the gem he had going against San Francisco that turned into an error fest.
