Were any of you non soccer fans that decided to give it a go once ATL got a team?

Trying to decide if getting into soccer is worth it. I've tried before but couldn't due to just not really having a vested interest in a team, but now I'm thinking of doing it with the Atlanta team.

I am an ATL UTD and Chelsea supporter but I don't watch that often. Having said that, the game can be really fun to watch if you know what to look for. The thing I like about MLS is there is actually way less of the stereotypical "soccer behavior" aka rolling around on the ground like your leg is broken.

The American brand of soccer does not reward this behavior nearly as much, and the refs let them play more. I would recommend following the team, they're pretty decent for a first year team.

There's not that much difference between MLS and the EPL or Bundesliga when it comes to this, and Atlanta is worse about it than most teams in those leagues.

It's odd that the 3 club teams I follow are pretty much all offense and no defense (Atlanta, Liverpool, and Gladbach). Makes for some really interesting games.

If you say so. Just based on the games I've watched, the players around the league just don't go down as often for slight infractions, they tend to keep playing.

I would suggest going to a game as soon as possible. Experience a game, with the atmosphere it brings, and then decide if it's for you. I think you'll have a blast going to a game and get hooked.

I had only really watched the World Cup before.

Now I probably watch 3 or 4 games a week...including Atl United.

I don't really know the nuances of the game so I can't really speak with great authority on the subject. But it's fun to watch...I like the lack of commercial breaks.

The only downside is a lot of the die hards are very annoying people.
