frick the Atlanta Shithead Group.

The Thrashers played their final game in Atlanta on April 10, 2011.
Almost two months later, on May 31, 2011, the announcement came. It was what every fan wanted and hated.
The Good: After years on infighting, the Thrashers’ ownership group -- the Atlanta Spirit, a partnership between nine businessmen from Atlanta, Washington, D.C., and Boston -- had managed to find a buyer.
The Bad: The Thrashers would be forced to move in the sale.

Go preds... not looking too good right now.
Sucks, I never made it to a Thrashers game.
ATL might could support one, but they'd have to win more than the Thrashers did.

Thrashers games were super fun, too. Loved those ice girls

By far my favorite franchise of my childhood. The early 2000s were amazing. Falcons were decent, making runs in the playoffs. Braves were good, and we had hockey in Atlanta. If you want a good read from an inside perspective check out this AMA on Reddit. LINK
Really tells you what things were like with that awful ownership group. I believe hockey in Atlanta can work, but no one's gonna take a chance on us again now that we've lost 2 teams.

yep...thrashers games were the best.
those 2 playoff games vs the rangers are still the best sports atmosphere i have been apart of even though we lost.

That 2006/2007 season was a blast. They had a promotion where you get 2 free tickets when signing up with a unique email address. My wife (gf at the time) and I had several emails each so we ended up going to almost 10 games for free that year. The place was always jumping and the team was really damn good. We made a few acquisitions during the season to make a run at it and fell apart in that Rangers series. They showed that when the ownership made a little effort, they could do some good things in Atlanta, but it quickly fell apart.

I was a fan of the whites myself.

I was crushed when they moved, I wanted to keep rooting for them but I couldn't bring myself to cheer on a Canadian team

Loved going to those games, frick the ASG for ruining them. Luckily I got the Pens now.

I have an attic full of Thrashers memorabilia. I'd venture to guess I went to 100 games or so, despite never having season tickets and living out of state for half of the team's existence.
I worked with and around the team on multiple occasions, and I knew Ben from that great AMA. So much of what he says was true, and like walking through a time warp. The day it was clear we were losing our team was a total gut punch. The Thrashers felt like a part of my family.
May the ASG forever rot in hell as the worst professional sports group in history. The city and its fans deserved better than owners who actively sabotaged the ticket base so as to encourage a relocation to a Canadian outpost.

From what I understand the ASG really just used the Thrashers as a bank account to pay for legal fees for lawsuits the group was involved in. They really did not give a frick if the team was good or not, just if it made enough money for their needs.
If proper investment and guidance is made, like Winnipeg has now, it would have been a different story.

Yes, but it makes me happy that they suck, and STILL haven't been able to win a playoff game.

I used to bartend at Knights games a lifetime ago...
Also, went to grade school with Jim Craig's son
Hate it we could not support a hockey team

My wife is friends with the guy who built the ice rink. We had free tickets every home game. Went to some upstairs after game parties with players and families and great food spreads.
