Ouch. Time to move to another city and adopt their teams.

The Super Bowl 51 is the worst though. It's probably the second worst choke job in sports history just behind the Yankees v Red Sox ALCS 2004.

And it's worse than that because while it sucked and double sucked because it allowed the Red Sox to break their curse, the Yankees had 567 other titles. It's much akin to the Kick 6 for Alabama.

The ATL housing bubble isn't done yet so no need to move right now. My area is gentrifying like crazy.

Am I the only one that is not really impacted by "Worst loss in history"? That stat means literally nothing to me.

To me, if we would've gotten beat 34-3 or 58-10 - that would've been 10 times worse than blowing a 28-3 lead. We had NE beaten and we blew it - ok. Getting arse reamed on national tv would've been much worse and it would've emphatically stated that we weren't that good.
Instead, we had NE of all teams beat the frick down in the Super Bowl but just didn't have depth and experience on the big stage to hold it. Sucks? Sure.

But we fricking belonged.

Well you will hear about it 1000x more than just getting your arse beat. You don't really become a punchline for getting your clock cleaned but you will hear about that loss for a long long time.

This year, yea, no doubt. After that it's just another meaningless stat. I really wanted it for the city of Atlanta but also for Matt Ryan and Julio. Those 2 have balled out with some shitty supporting casts up until the last 1-2 years.

History shows that they're getting long in the tooth in the NFL so I hope they get one before it's all over. I think we got as good a shot as any team in the NFL to do just that over the next 3 year period. They're gonna get 1... soon.

Yeah not sure how much longer Julio will be elite but I think Ryan will be good for another 5 or 6 seasons.

As long as the Oline can keep him upright. I truly feared for his health 2 and 3 seasons ago. I actually thought I was going to witness him die on the field while getting sacked by 2 people simultaneously.

If we had just lost a close game, no. But, I dunno, it was almost statistically impossible to lose that game and we found almost the only way possible to do it. It's the most peak Atlanta thing ever and it devastated my soul for a few weeks.

I'm past it now, though.

This past sports year has ripped my soul from my body with the UTk hail mary, blowing a 4th quarter 13 point lead to Tech, and Super Bowl 51.

I thought UGA's shitastic luck the past decade would have made me calloused to blowing games, but SB 51 still feels as fresh as the second they scored in OT.

- The Infield Fly game in 2012
- Fredi leaving Kimbrel in the bullpen in 2013
Before all that, there was this.

Th3 1983 Braves had a 6 1/2 game lead in mid August before collapsing, losing 9 of 10 and dropping to 3 1/2 games behind the hated Dodgers on September 3rd. However, on their final road trip out west, they rallied to get back to within 2 games on Sunday September 11th.

They took a 3-run lead into the bottom of the 9th. A win would have cut the LA divisional lead to 1 game with two weeks to play, and momentum back on their side.

Then RJ Reynolds happened.

Meh. It reminds me of the Auburn kick 6 game a few years back. At first I thought it was the worst thing and then I think Bama went on to win 1-2 more NCs.

I literally could give 0 fricks about the kick 6 game now.
We win a super bowl in the next few years and I could give 0 fricks about the 28-3 score. I simply care that we lost, that's all.

The only time I've completely lost my cool at a sporting event. I was making a scene by the concessions while the trash was littering the field.

I wasn't able to make it to that game, had I gone there would've been a 99% chance that I'd see the inside of a jail cell.

As I walked back from the bar to my house I could see all of these people packing up quickly to leave the Super Bowl parties they were at. Everybody was silent plus there were very little cars on the road. Made for an eerie walk back.

After Super Bowl 51, I openly wondered why I even follow sports. Still not sure I watched any of the highlights or aftermath. To have Brady beaten, harassed, and scared, and to blow it all was more than I could stomach. Yet, I honestly expected it once Ryan fumbled. It was clear Atlanta was going to lose at that point.

The second-worst moment, but also no less inevitable, was the Thrashers moving. I devoted a lot of energy and passion into that franchise, just for the Spirit to completely shite all over it at any possible moment. Then, they were gone. I stopped watching hockey for several years after that. I'm only just now starting to really follow the Predators, but that's a much healthier level of fandom.

I want to believe that the Falicons have a title in them these next few years. But I just don't know.

I have faith in Dan Quinn and that coaching staff. They got to the Super Bowl in YEAR FRIGGIN 2. With rookies and 2nd year players all over that defense.

Let's not forget that we:
A) Had a bye
B) Destroyed SEA when everyone said it was 50/50 at best
C) Absolutely killed GB when everyone on the national media had us as a giant L already
D) We had NE dead to rights. Did we blow it? Yes but that's why you play the game.

We're gonna get a title - soon. Let em all talk now and make fun. Makes for a better moment when you drop your nuts right on that forehead.
