For me.......
1. 1996 World Series (about to go up 3-1 and become a dynasty, instead, NYY become one and we never get that close again)
2. 2017 Super Bowl (worst loss in sports history on the biggest stage)
3. Puckett off Leibrandt in 1991 Game 6 (I cried the entire day the next day, then watched Game 7 and cried the entire next week)
4. 2012 NFC Championship (we confirmed all the nonsense people said about us not being tough and could have 100% beaten the Ravens)
5. Hawks 60 wins and swept (fvck Delly)
6. Kimbrel in the bullpen (we were about to beat Clayton Kershaw with Fredi Garcia and Jose Constanza and come back to Atlanta for a Game 5 and FVCK YOU FREDI)

It's hard to compare 96 Braves and the 2017 Super Bowl because I know how it all ended up for the Braves. I believe if we win that game to go up 3-1, then we would have won the series. Had we won the series then I think you see the Braves have a run like the late 90s Yankees did. I don't think you see the Braves trade for Lofton (which I firmly believe was the catalyst for the Braves failures after 97).
With the Falcons, I feel like they are actually on the rise and have a chance for a sustained run of success with a decent chance at getting back. With the Braves, that one game, that one pitch, changed the Cox era dramatically.
91 hurt (I was only 5 or 6 so it didn't really hurt me at all, but I've seen enough on the subject to have an idea), but I look at that team like I look at last years Falcons. It clearly is the start of something and no one was expecting it at the beginning of the year.
The various Fredi Gonzalez-led Braves fowl ups hurt at the time but aren't terribly meaningful as I don't think the Braves would have done anything significant even if those moments were reversed.

28-3 and it is not close.
ETA:
The whole Twins WS was a inside job and it sucked. The strike in '94 taking a title from the Braves. Liberty Media. I also think Blank being shafted out of buying the Braves set us back.

To follow up on the 96 Braves comment I made...
For whatever reason we felt we a game changer at the leadoff spot and traded Justice and Grissom to the Indians for 1 year of Lofton. Justice had a couple of monster seasons with Cleveland.
Keep Justice and Grissom, and you wouldn't have needed Michael Tucker to play right, which meant we wouldn't have needed to trade Dye at the time and would have never had Keith Lockhart on the team.
Now you have a 97 outfield of Klesko/Dye, Jones/Grissom, and Justice. You could have traded 1 or 2 of Klesko/Dye/Grissom for something more significant down the road once you determine where your weaknesses lie. Maybe a really good second baseman?
Instead, we have Lockhart getting the majority of time at 2B in 1998, which led to Bret Boone which led to Veras/Sanders, etc.
There was so much turnover in the lineup year to year which I feel was a direct result of that desire to get Lofton which I feel was an overreaction to losing in the World Series.
Or maybe I am the one that is overreacting and we make the trade regardless of whether we win or lose the 96 series?

Agree. It was one of the only "non-Braves way" moves I can ever remember us making, and it almost seemed like we immediately regretted it.

I'm willing to bet that the strike saved the Braves division championship streak. The Expos were STACKED and we were 6 games back when the league went on strike. That might have been the catalyst which broke up that Expos team to help the Braves settle in as the best in the East.

Well I could add the '93 playoff loss to the Phillies. That team may have been the hottest and best team of the 90's.Had an amazing 2nd half record catching the Giants.
Absolutely NO EXCUSE for losing in that playoff series.
