Bigger contributor to ATL? Ted Turner or Arthur Blank?

Both have been historic both on economic, philanthropic and athletics.
Not that it really matters because they both rock, but who ranks higher?

Man, that's a good question.
I'd probably lean Ted because he did it all while Atlanta was still a large regional type city, and CNN/Turner has put it on the map around the nation and world in the 80s/90s.
However, Blank is probably more deeply connected to the city on a micro, day to day, internal way.

Ted if for no other reason than the international/national notoriety he brought the city with Turner Broadcasting, CNN, and the 90s Braves.
Arthur has been quite influential in his own right but Home Depot and the Falcons don't quite stack up to what Turner managed.
Still, we owe a lot to both men for elevating the city of Atlanta and the state of Georgia above other contemporary southern cities states like Birmingham, AL, Columbia, SC, Nashville, TN, Charlotte, NC, etc

I'd almost lean Arthur, only because Ted has seemed to check out. He is such a hermet, and seems relegated to his land, while Blank has his foundation that is propping up so many new cool projects around the city.

I think in time Arthur could have the longer-lasting legacy in the city but as of right now, Ted has been the bigger influence. But if we end up hosting World Cup matches in a few years because of Mercedes-Benz Stadium, that's a big feather in the cap of Arthur Blank

In fairness to Ted, he's also in declining health which has sidelined him the past few years.

Ted doesn't have much to do with Atlanta now outside of his legacy companies. However, he was the engine and image of Atlanta during it's 1st great awakening. From sports teams to CNN, he literally was one of the handful of people that took Atlanta from a regional city to an international one.
Blank has been fantastic and has a chance to help continue to change the city, but it would be hard to match Ted's overall accomplishments. They paved the way.

Ted. By long yards.
he owned Channel 17 which became WTBS. He took braves broadcasting national. In the 90's ATL was literally Americas team. You could want braves baseball in des moines, or little rock or Missoula Montana.

I think it is Ted. He really helped put Atlanta on the worldwide map. IMO what he did in the 1980's and 1990's, not only with the Braves, but especially with TBS, CNN and TCM was pretty amazing.

Ted is the easy answer.
But Arthur isnt done, yet. Patience.
