Julio is young, controllable, cheap and has had some really good seasons in the not so distant past. His value has certainly taken a hit but to say he has 0 value is either hyperbole or ignorance.

Yeah, it's ignorance to say a soft tossing control pitcher without a true elite pitch who also has an ERA and FIP over 5 doesn't have trade value, good call.

Feel free to give me an example of a pitcher somewhat recently with an ERA over 5 that managed to net a top 100 prospect, I'll wait.

Julio hasn't been unlucky or injured, he's just been getting railed, missing in the zone and giving up HRs in bunches both at home and on the road.

The front office was insanely dumb not to trade him at the deadline last year or this past offseason when he had peak value, but at this point we might as well just hold on to him and hope he rebounds next year, because his value is practically nil.

So he has to fetch a top 100 prospect to "have any value"? You really are ignorant.

He wasn't a top 100 prospect at the time of that trade really though. He did pop up on a few list like Fangraphs after the season though, so a decent comparison. We might be able to get lucky on a international player that was just signed like the Padres did with Tatis I suppose, but selling Julio when his value has absolutely cratered seems pointless to me.

Not getting a top 100 prospect back in a trade would be considered having almost no trade value to pretty much anyone with a modicum of baseball knowledge, the only one showing ignorance here is you.

You're very wrong and clearly have little understanding of the value pitching (especially young, controllable, and cheap pitching) has in today's game, but your argument is also irrelevant because when/if we trade Julio it's probably going to be in a package deal for a TOR starter to lessen the the minor league talent we have to give up.

Lol, you keep on hoping for that. I'm fully aware of how valuable young controllable cheap pitching is, but the key ingredient is that the pitching has to be good as well to be valuable, and right now Julio isn't (he's been worth negative WAR on the season for goodness sakes).

The idea that the Rays are going to take significantly less talent for Archer or the Tigers would take less for Fulmer because we send them Julio is pretty laughable right now, not the least of which is neither is really going to be all the interested in him. If we get either we are going to have to give up at least 2-3 of our top 12-13 prospects, because as you say young, controllable, and most importantly good TOR starters are worth a crapton.

C - flowers
1b - Freeman
2b - Albies
3b - Phillips (if cheap)
SS- Swanson
LF- kemp
Cf- Inciarte
Rf- Acuna

Bench
Suzuki
carmargo
Santana
Peterson
Adams or other "power" bat off bench

Only way Markakis stays around is if they can somehow unload Kemp and most of his salary. If not, with Acuna in right Ender can cover up Kemp.

Phillips, if he'll take a cheap deal, is a great guy to have on a young team. Would put him in a mini platoon with Carmargo who would also give Albies and Swanson a day off each week.

Put any big free agent money into pitching.
