Was just thinking that in today's basketball world, he would have likely left after his freshman or sophomore year. I wish guys stuck around like they used to.

I seem to remember Darnell Robinson being considered one of, if not the, top recruit in the nation for his class.

Big time recruit, but when you look at the 93 recruiting class, it shows just how difficult recruiting to Arkansas can be without local talent.

Good link. God I wish Lee Wilson and Darnell Robinson had panned out.

So you're telling me we had 2 top 100 recruits and won a title?

Interesting.

Probably more than 2 when you count some of the guys in front of them.

No, Williamson and Thurman were legit recruits. Corliss was a top 5 recruit. Thurman was top 80 at least.

We were at our best when we got the best recruits in our state and some good recruits outside of it. Not breaking news. Meanwhile, MA is about to pull a big upset and get us in the Sweet 16 (I hope so motherfricking bad).

You won't find me doing such a thing if he loses to UNC. I'll be disappointed if we lose, sure. However, the job he did after it was even doubtful if we would make the tournament is impressive. That took a lot to keep this team focused after the Mizzou loss, and we played better after it.

ETA: I didn't even watch the Vandy game. We were dead in the water after the first half of the LSU game. MA deserves credit for everything after that. He coached his arse off.

Darnell and Lee weren't all-Americans, but they were very solid bigs.

Todd was 3rd team on this Hoop Scoop site linked above, class of '88.

Lee was right behind him at 4th team.

So Todd was definitely one of our highest ranked recruits since they started posting rankings.

Corliss is the highest ranked recruit we've ever signed.

We got to the mountain top with jucos under Nolan.

Ron Huery at 3rd team class of '86 is the recruit Nolan always sited as his most important signing because it gave him recruiting momentum.

Most folks don't realize the changes they made to JUCO recruiting in the mid 90's and the NCAA screwing us with the Sunday Adebyeo situation really hurt our program. Might sound like sour grapes but felt like they were on a witch hunt with Nolan being target #1. Frustrating to think about what could have been.

Oh man we were seriously about to reload big time with Pate, Adebayo, Reid, Hood and Bradley. We 100% got screwed by the NCAA in those years.

Pate is still the best player ever to come out of Mississippi, yes he was screwed over by the NCAA, he was buried in his razorback uniform.

Darnell had set the record for most points scored in hs in California.

Reid was a macdonalds aa. He Bradley and Nikki Davis were all northeastern recruits, Nolan was recruiting nationwide but the most important recruits for his teams were the jucos.

The decline started when he was not allowed to recruit jucos by tha NCAA while refusing to offer a coaches son in Little Rock who then steered his players to anywhere but Arkansas.

Nolan also refused to play the aau games, Eddins and Bradley were the only recruits signed from aau efforts iirc.

Yeah, I remember his son at Auburn, but he wasn't all that special. Nolan and flanigan didn't care for each other I assume.
