We're looking at going next month with some friends and their kids (teenagers). Looking around on the web, prices seem to vary from $40-$60 per canoe for a day trip (not including shuttle service). Is there really that much of a difference?

Haven't floated the Buffalo in about 10 years and that was all arranged by someone else, so would appreciate any advice. I'm guessing we'll need to make our reservations soon?

We have always used Buffalo River Outfitters. I believe that is middle Buffalo.

No idea!

We'll be coming from LR, if that matters...just looking for a nice trip for the kids and a good opportunity for the adults to hang out and drink beer.

ETA:

Looks like 4 primary routes offered by the outfitters I've found:
Steel Creek - Kyle's Landing
Baker Ford - Gilbert
Maumee North - Dillard's Ferry
Dillard's Ferry - Rush

We always float the upper river...

I would do Steek Creek to Kyle's or even Kyle's to Erbie..Just better water and scenery IMO

We have done this one before. It's an easy float. Good for drinking beer since there is no need for any hardcore paddling. There's a bluff that everyone jumps off of that is a lot of fun.

Regardless of where you go you wanto to check the river levels...You don't want to have to paddle too much.

If we're going on a Saturday, how far in advance do we need to make reservations? Non-holiday weekend.

You might just want to call but typically on a Non-holiday you can just drive up and go.

We have our own boats so I haven't had to deal with it in a few

This is my favorite if the water is right.

Camping overnight or just doing a day trip?

I always recco the Upper but always check the river levels, I've been pretty adamant about staying above the area where Dogpatch's waste system leaked into the river. I've not been over there in a couple years but I doubt all those problems are totally fixed yet.

If the water level allows, the upper section is by far the most scenic. It is a little more challenging than the other sections but has plenty of places to just relax and drink a few. Cant go wrong with the Buffalo Outdoor Center in Ponca

they got a good rain yesterday and getting another one today. Temps look to be in the 70's over the weekend, should be some glorious floating! I'm jelly.
