6 rushes for 2 yds in the 2nd half. Wasn't taking what we were given, it was full on abandonment.

I would also like to see the run chart and see how everything broke down.

Were you watching a different game? They were stacking the box on early downs blitzing 2-3 every time.

We actually were taking what we were given, and just didn't execute because our pass blocking is still complete shite.

#1 rule of a complete rebuild job.....

- Keep reasonable expectations. 3 wins isn't turning in to 10 over night.

This is a 6-6/7-5 ball club at best.....and we know that

Collins - 10 carries, 6.8 YPC
Marhsall - 8 carries, 5.6 YPC
Williams - 7 carries, 4.9 YPC

How Chaney didn't get each of those guy about 5 more carries a piece beats me. Chaney should be embarrassed with his second half play calling. What a fail by him in that second half.

I'm going to have to take a break from, what I consider the most reasonable Hog board on the planet.

Some of you, have no ounce of a clue.

Coaching and play calling was not at fault today. Lack of talen and depth was.

There was nothing more Chaney could have done. He took what AU gave us. In the first half, our line was much better. In the second half, AU had 8 or 9 in the box and were bringing blitzes from the outside and middle.

Had he kept running the ball, you would be pissed off we had -56 rushing yards in the second half and wondered why we didn't throw the ball every down.

Exactly. He did what Auburn was asking him to do instead of sticking with the basic tenants of our philosophy and strength. He fell right into their hands, and we scored 0 fricking points after gashing their arse on the line for the entire first half. How you can not think Chaney shite the bed in the second half is beyond me.

3, 1, -6, 3, 0, 6

Those numbers are what was gained/lost on rushes in the 3rd qtr.

We only ran 13 plays in the 3rd quarter, 6 of which were runs, one of which was the interception and we passed for 37 yards.

We do not get the ball back until the 9:55 mark of the fourth quarter, down 17, 38-17.

Arkansas' first possession of the second half - we get the ball down 7 on the 25 yards line:

Pass
Pass
Pass
Punt

Arkansas' 2nd possession of the 2nd half, still down by 7, we start moving it but then on 3rd and 4 Collins get tackled in the backfield and we punt. No one blames Chaney for that. If Collins doesn't get us 4 yards there I can live with it. Better than putting it in Allen's hands against the pass rush. The play calls for this second possession were:

Run
Pass
Run
Pass
Run

Arkansas's 3rd possession of the 2nd half - we get the ball down 7 on the 15 yard line:

Run
Interception

So we had 10 plays over these 3 possessions to get our offense established while we were still in the game down by 7, and we don't call 2 runs in a row even though in the first half when we were running over them we called 5 runs in a row at once. Our first possession we don't hand it off once. Our line and backs were not given an opportunity to get themselves established and back into the flow. College football is 90% momentum based, and instead of giving the best part of this team an opportunity to gain momentum, Chaney got cute and walked into AU's trap.

That possession ended any chance we had.

No it didn't.

Arkansas started each possession in the first half with a run, outside of one. Chaney knew Auburn game planned to stop the run in the second half, so he wanted to hit them with some short passes to loosen them up.

You've established both the run and the pass in the first half. To open up the half with completed passes, relaxes the defense for the rest of the half. It also relaxes their defensive play calling.

It's sadly obvious, some of you can only see to the end of your nose when discussing football.

Yeah I didn't really see any problem with his play calling in the third quarter. They were starting to whip our line as we wore down so I don't think we were going to be able to run it straight at them with as much success as we had early in the game.

Personally, I would have liked to see him run the ball a little on that drive in the fourth but we were down 17 so I get it. Also there were guys open so it's not like they were necessarily bad calls. Just poorly executed.

I was telling the people at my house that I wish we would run it just to see what our backs and line can do.

"I know we have to pass here down by 17, but I would rather they just get the ball, see if we can make it down the field in the time left and score once to lose by 10..."

We weren't going to make up 17 after the interception and then field goal. I was just hoping to practice against a D1 school at that point.

I don't think so.

If we can run the ball, we gonna run. Why the o-line was so tired sounds like a problem with the o-line and their coaches, including Herbert.

And if we have to pass ...with this staff.......it's basically something any competent high school coach in this state can do.
