What else does downtown Fayetteville need?

The Lumiere Theatre (movie house) got thru the Planning Commission with their variances.

Theatre Squared got a $9 million grant today from the Waltons. In about a year, the Dickson area will be home to a three screen indie movie theater, and have another performing arts venue with two stages dedicated to live theater.

What else should go down there? I'm thinking a bowling alley like the Dust Bowl that is being built in downtown Little Rock.

What would you like to see there?

Downtown?

I think they'd need a big spot and land prices down there aren't going to make it worthwhile.

Maybe uptown.

A goodwill store so I can grab some vintage clothes to wear ironically before hitting up the scene on the hill.

Keep Fayetteville weird.

We could tear something down...or build it over the railroad tracks somehow...that'd be fun.

I like everything enjoyable in one location...cuts down on the need to drive after drinking.

I got it...tear down Powerhouse so that the Gruden rumors would stop whenever we have coaching vacancies.

I'm kinda like yeah, but then I think whatever keeps more of the riff-raff out or on foot is a good thing.

I prefer my thrift stores to be for profit veiled as charity.

A candy store would be nice. I eat Hot Tamales by the barrel.

Colliers is missing an opportunity to be more of a convenience store. They should dedicate themselves to something like that or even an old school soda fountain. They're within walking distance of thousands of new people compared to 5 years ago.

Some decent market-rate apartments would be a hit down there. Right now the living options are getting squeezed down to $1000 a person "student apartments", $500,000 townhomes, and expensive condos.

I think that would play really well with regular folk going for fun and young people going there ironically. You could have "artisan soda" or some bullshite and also have some fudge and taffy pulling.

I think I just realized my dream is to own an old timey soda fountain and candy store on Dickson.

The corner where the train-bank currently sits would be ideal for a boutique hotel, maybe 5 stories, with restaurant/bar. Walking distance to campus, but in the heart of Dickson.

The building has a "patio" out on Dickson Street that currently isn't used for anything. Put some tables out there for nice weather, etc. It's a great idea.

Yeah the train bank is prime real estate and really under utilized.

I imagine that whole strip from West and Dickson by the train bank down to Scarpino's will be another wing of bars and restaurants in the future. There's not even a sidewalk there right now.

For lazy drunk stoners like me, that would be nice because my group of friends and I never go west on Dickson past Hoghaus because you have to walk up the hill.
