I saw they were picked to finish about 7 or 8 in some poll on the rant earlier. That to me was a bit low.

I was expecting 22+ wins and maybe a tourny bid

We'll be awesome at home and terrible on the road. NIT bid forthcoming.

We'll make the tournament and get bounced in the first or second round. Huge improvement.

This is my guess. IMO, if we don't make the tournament this year, we really need to evaluate CMA. This will be his third year - and for the money we are spending, I think a tournament appearance is in order.

This is his third season, but he has been handcuffed by Pel's handling of the APR and not able to turnover the roster like was needed when he first arrived.

MA said it would be a huge failure if we don't make the tourney this year. I don't remember the exact quote.

Right on, and I'm really glad to hear that. I'm not taking a shot at CMA, but this has to be treated like a business. Whatever goals and expectations he's set with long need to be tracked and there needs to be accountability.

I still believe CMA is the right guy

We need to be in the tourney this year or I will begin the witch hunt for a new coach.

still 3 years later he should have that taken care of. It's a basketball roster afterall.

Mike Anderson is the right guy, and I believe will have us to an elite level eventually.

That said, we aren't making the NCAAt this year. We'll be lucky to get an NIT invite.

22 seems alittle high, even with our weak OOC slate. we could easily drop games at home to Fl, uK, and Mizz. id be ok with that if we were competitive and balanced it out with some road wins over UGA, SC, and one of Bama/OM.

19/20 wins, with some nice road victories, some good, close games against the top teams in the conference would make me happy this year, and would def raise the bar next year.

If Madden plays like he did the last month, Harris shows up ready to ball, we continue to dominate at the palace, and Portis adjusts quickly, who knows, maybe 22 and a bid is possible. that just seems like a lot to ask for.

It wasn't that simple, Pel had the classes all out of balance.

Next year he will again improve the roster by replacing the guys on it (Wade, Scott).

I will be extremely disappointed if they do not make post season play, I expect this team to look like a team, not a group of individuals as has been the case since Pel's second season after Heath's team left.

Portis, Kingsley, Harris, and Clarke will finally give the depth at the forward position to throw "waves" at the opposition of fresh players.

Portis has range in his shot, he can shoot the 3. He has a "high motor" and has been able to handle the ball enough to lead the break.

Kingsley doesn't have a problem playing defense, blocking shots, and rebounding, he runs the court well for a guy his size and has been shooting great from the FT line.

Bell has improved his game tremendously, he has developed a decent mid-range game and we already know he can stroke it from outside.

Wade is looking for his shot more, seems to have confidence on the court.

Qualls had changed his body in a good way and has increased his ball handling skills to the point he could slide down to the 2/3 position at times during the game. He has also improved his shooting and range.

PG will be by committee between Madden, Haydar, Gulley, and Wagner.

Ricky Scott is still Rickey Scott.

Kikko has improved his ball handling as well, he is being a leader on the defensive end getting guys in the right position, etc, part of the reason he was named a captain, he could be the PG and fill that role.

As a team they have been shooting free throws well, above 80% as a team.

Just info from a couple people who have attended a few practices.

And there's the rub. We still don't have a hang your hat on leader at point guard.
Until we get/develop one, it's going to be hit and miss.

What rub?

Kikko has been a leader for the team so far in practice.

Clarke, Harris, and Qualls have picked up the slack as well and have been the leaders when Kikko isn't on the court.

I expect better team cohesion for more extended periods of time.

15 minutes of hell, 25 minutes of what the hell should hit more around 25/15

I feel like getting rid of a few players that Mike felt obligated to keep trying last year will be addition by subtraction. I don't care how hyped a player was out of high school and who all wanted him, Mickelson in this system was square peg in round hole to me yet Mike kept trying to get him over the hump.

TL:DR version

play together much more efficiently, but still lacking a go-to player.

Mike tried to help him, he doesn't have the "it" factor to play the game.

Kingsley and Portis are similar in size, both can play the game. I'm looking forward to see the continued progress and development of Williams, if it ever clicks for him, he could be a player.

he's got the "it" to play some big 10 ball maybe, who knows.

you could just see a lack of fire on both sides of the floor when he was logging his 18-22 mins a game.

I think those days are behind us. We have the ability to score easily in the post now. That form of offense is WAY more suitable for winning on the road. Anything less than 21-23 wins is a disappointment for me this year.
