seems pointless. Walmart doesn't need technology, logistics, supply chain or market share from them.

$3 Billion pricetag. Pretty good ROI for being in business about a year.

Read articles about the sale last week but I brushed it off as Jet trying to get some publicity as it's not caught on in the general public like they had hoped for, but apparently it caught on enough to get Walmart's attention.

I am still amazed they didn't put up more of a fight during amazon's first few years. There is no excuse for Walmart's online shopping experience to be so shitty.

They should have been hiring the best web talent out there from the start. They pretty much just gave that entire market away without even putting up a fight.

I don't think Wal-Mart really uses remote developers and it's damn hard to get top level tech talent to relocate to NWA.

They should have been throwing crazy money at them before any other companies had a chance to get a foothold. I am no expert in this field, but when I go to Walmart's website I just ask myself how a company with that much money can have such a horrible website compared to the others.

They don't bring em to NWA. the online business is based in San Mateo, CA. It's right between silicon valley and SF.

pay is kinda shite though for that area.

I agree WMT's online experience sucks. And yes, they did wait too long and lost critical time and first mover advantage while AMZN perfected the online shopping experience, built their brand (remember when they were only online books????) and took share.

But it's not accurate to say they're not at least trying, spending money and hiring. This jet.com deal notwithstanding, they've invested billions and and will be investing billions more over the coming years. They've also hired/hiring hundreds of web retail engineers to play catch up. It's just so damn hard given the hole they dug for themselves.

It's doing to be tough but i think they will ultimately narrow the gap. This deal helps but the price tag does reek of desperation. But what options do they have at this point - not many. What they do have is cash - and a lot of it.

still a "penny stock"

Jet started the day at 57 cents, went to $2.00 and now back down to 90 cents

Walmart is trying to cut costs instead of hiring the top talent. This isnt box stores. This is online where the top talent is limited.

A lot of their ecommerce division is located in Texas as well so they dont have to pay those Cali salaries.

Amazon has been profitable for 4-5 quarters ever. The "Walmart is toast" shite is way overblown.

In the US, ecommerce is <10% of all retail. Sure it's growing fast, but there is plenty of market share to be had

Actually they are incurring costs on themselves by raising their wages to keep associates happy

Walmart is definitely not in any kind of trouble.

They've taken a hit from Wall St. muck a mucks by doing things that are better for their employees rather than their bottom line.

There's some really backward thinking in the financial world and the corporate greed model in punitive towards basic humanitarian decisions that are long term positives.

I assume they made this move to beef up their UX and design teams.

I don't have a big problem with walmart's online experience. Their inventory control and push marketing are problematic.

I made a purchase from the website after trying multiple times on a popular item that would go out of stock quickly. Multiple times I'd get notification of it being available, then go make the purchase to get notified it was out of stock. Months later I still get push notifications about the item despite having already bought it.

No qualms w/ the website but the execution needs evaluated and refined.

Ding ding ding

Finally have a d-bag that understands money, maybe, wasn't going to say shite, but these fricking libtards that live in Fayettenam think they have a pulse on the market, just because they live up there with a bunch of unemployed artists.

I retired at 40 because of these junkies.

Shitposting is Pigfeet's art. I wouldn't hang it on my wall, but I'll stop and look at it on my walk through the museum.

You haven't offered any opinions or content of any kind in this thread, therefore I'm not censoring opinions.

Its like sweeping the floor. I don't spend time evaluating the dirt and dust, I just know it's undesirable and throw it out
