I always just assumed they called it that because of how the thing terrorizes students with the shitty design that makes it impossible to find anything.

Heck no. I hated hogcall. It took me hours, hours just to get in a register for classes. It only takes a few minutes online.
I knew the son of the guy that did the voice for hogcall. The father's stories about when his son's friends/classmates would call and realize they are talking to the hogcall voice were hilarious.
