Look at UGA, that is a prime example.

but it's really not. the two UGA coaches before Richt were fired for not reaching the bar, and the coach before Richt had 1-10 win, 1-9 win and 2-8 win seasons the 4 years before he was fired.

Richt had 10 years since an SEC title and dropped 2 losses to SECe teams each season his last 3 years(during a down east).

lsu has been beaten by their old HC which is an entirely different ordeal.

saban isn't destroying anything. if anything, he's reminding us why college football is so great. Any team can be a dynasty if luck collides.

I can see where you're coming from, but it's just a narrative. sometimes your coach isn't as good. Yes that sucks, but it's ridiculous to say an amazing coach is making your team, or NCAAF, worse by being great.

He is destroying the sec. His dominance has made the second tier of the big 6 lose recruits to other conferences. The recruits know going to LSU, auburn, Georgia, Florida, tenner is a waste. They can go to Clemson, FSU, Ohio st, mich etc because there they have an actual chance at a conference championship and a natty.

They know it's bama or bust here.

What this should do is open a path for us to win these games when other teams are less talented, and have bad coaching. The issue is we aren't filling that spot. Its people like miss state.

This is our time to make a move and the fat frick is fat and slow(physically and coaching wise) So we won't be making any moves

Texas A&M - Sumlin has yet to be fired, but A&M isn't investing the GDP of some countries into their football program to be going 8-5

This. Goddammit.

I think this is highly played up. Since Nick Saban was hired at Bama:

Arkansas: Bobby Petrino was fired for the motorcycle incident. John L. Smith got fired because he was a shitty interim. No one is expecting Bert to beat Bama, it's the 0–4 record to aTm, the 1–3 record to Auburn, 1–3 to MSU, 1–2 to Missouri and unexplainable losses that are going to get him fired. He has a losing overall record in year five.

Auburn: Gene Chizik, fired for going 3–9, not because he lost to Bama. Malzahn may actually end up being fired for losing to Alabama constantly, but it's also more likely that he's going to get fired for being mediocre. Tuberville was only at Auburn for two years after Saban was hired and went 1–1. He was 6–3 overall against Alabama. Auburn just got sick of him and gave him the Mark Richt treatment.

LSU: Les Miles, probably the only coach I can think of in the West during Saban's tenure who was fired for performing at a high level, but just not good enough. Losing five in a row to Saban most certainly had a lot to do with it.

Mississippi State: Dan Mullen is still there despite never having beaten Nick Saban in eight tries.

Ole Miss: Houston Nutt got fired for going 4–8 and then 2–10. Hugh Freeze got fired for bringing the NCAA's wrath upon Ole Miss.

Texas A&M: Sumlin is still there and has beaten Bama once. He'll be getting fired for much the same reason as Bert.

Nick Saban and Alabama are definitely killing excitement in SEC football. But they're not killing coaches' careers. LSU and Auburn are the only two teams who have yearly goals and expectations to compete with that guy, and even then they have to accept that they're dealing with the next Bear Bryant and are going to go even at absolute best. I personally don't give a damn if Bert ever beats Saban, the guy probably won't even be there that much longer. Just win the winnable games, keep us ranked and relevant until the end of the season, and lead us to decent bowls against exciting opponents.

All these people are getting fired because they're underperforming in general. This is compounded by the fact that HC salaries in CFB are in some weird bubble where excessive amounts of cash are being thrown around. It's unsustainable, especially if you aren't going to be bringing home any hardware or yearly rankings for 3-5 million a year.

I haven't read the entire thread..and this may have been included in it.

However, I do believe the "Bama" affect has caused some problems for programs and coaches, especially in recruiting.

In the South, football is king. However recruits want to play for a winner/champion. Bama can only take 25 a year and is naturally the only SEC team currently with a decent chance to play for a NC. SEC recruiting is taking a hit overall. If a player doesn't go to Bama, they may choose to go to Clemson, Michigam, O State, Oklahoma, Louisville, anywhere where it would be easier to get to a playoff bowl.

Let's face it... that isn't Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss, Mizzou, Tenner, etal.
