The sky isn't falling/ we beat ourselves today

I'm as disappointed in the loss as much as the next person, but I don't think the sky is falling. To me it looked like we lost this game on Monday/Tuesday and didn't spend much time game planning. It looked like they thought we'd be able to skate by on talent alone. Really 5 things that killed us:
1. Holding penalties
2. Punt return called back (wasn't the INT on that drive?)
3. Missed FG
4. Blocked punt (short field)
5. Run game was terrible
Our scheme today looked more vanilla than last week on both sides of the ball. Defense was frustrating, but really only gave up one TD drive. The other was a short field. Offense put up 500+ yards but killed themselves with stupid penalties. Toledo wasn't too bad and certainly better thank the Jacksonville St team that should have beat AU. Anything can happen we you aren't prepared or looking ahead. Coaches should take the blame for not having the team focused or having a better game plan, but I still we should have a decent season.

For sure the reason we lost was because we beat ourselves. No question about it. I've never seen a more baffling loss. We dominated every single phase of that game except for between the 5 yard line and the goal line.
However, good teams don't lose these games so there is no excuse.

I'll admit, I was going to flame the shite out of you, but you do have a point. Our dumbass penalties took two TDs off the board (Henry's hold and the PR TD) that we ended up getting nothing out of. We suck in down-and-goal situations, which means this season might suck hard.

The worst part was facing a 1st and 3 yards at the goal line and having to settle for a 30-something yard field goal

Don't look now, but our special teams still fricking suck too.
Our kick returners are running right into groups of tacklers at the 20, we couldn't hit touchbacks, Hedlund missed a FG, our punting sucked, and our long snapper cost us a Toledo TD.
Frick everything about this team.

I'm not sure how you can disagree with that. We were ranked and lost to a god damn MAC team at home.

First of all it's not a home game. Second of all that "MAC" team can beat a lot of good teams if they play with their heads up their ads like we did in Saturday
It's no different than losing a bowl game.
