Should hold noise better after this.

Really wish they would move student section and band to the middle of one end zone.

When I made a road trip to South Carolina to watch us play them, their band was dead center in one end zone and you could hear them so much better. The student section noise seemed to flow very well that direction making it seem louder than it actually was.

Thank the football gods… that end zone has been an eyesore for 15 years… now I just wish they'd put up a new facade, lights, and a grass field… but I'll take whatever they do right now.

You would think every remodeling project in the entire athletic dept could be done in the next 4 or 5 yrs considering the extra $30-40 mil/yr they're getting from the SEC network.

I also noticed in the release by Jeff Long that one thing had for sure changed.

It was planned to have a video board in each corner of the south end zone when they released their plans in 2013. Yesterday, he mentioned just a single video board on top of the south end zone.

Doing that, would also take away the area to add the extra seating up top there.

Will be interested to see the more finalized drawings that come out.

I thought I would be more excited about the north endzone finally being built but it sounds like it will only benefit a few CEO execs and their families (that might show up to a few home games a year). I don't understand why so many of you are busting a nutt over loge seating and more boxes (hardly any actual seating increase). 90% of us here aren't going to be sitting in these new suites and it won't even really bowl in the endzone completely. Last facility update we made that was actually impressive and not half assed was when BWA was built.

Are you old enough to remember the football stadium prior to the remodel in '01?

Yes. We could have added another 5,000 seats in that endzone. Instead we had fricking temporary bleachers a mile above the ground. Not so surprisingly they weren't a hit with the fans. I'm not saying our stadium isn't nice but the expansion was smaller than it could have been and this newest will likely be the same. Schools like aTm or LSU do it big but we're gonna add like 1000 seats and still have an ugly yellow Broyles complex in the endzone.

This would be cool but our endzones are nice chairbacks so it would never happen. Ole Miss has a setup like this. Our band is in a terrible spot soundwise.

If only this could actually happen they'll never put benches in the endzone.

Dude.

When we expanded in '01 to 72,000, we were adding 20,000 seats. That was more than enough. Our avg attendance was probably like 50,000 fans back then. It took us a few years before we could come close to filling it up consistently.

During Petrino's time, we used the 76,000 seating capacity for those seasons. We have had over 76,000 in that stadium a handful of times.

I think 76-78,000 seats with the ability to SRO and temporary another 5,000 fans would be ample. If demand is ever there, we could make the south end upper deck permanent during one off-season and raise permanent capacity by 5,000.

I'm of the mind that college football attendance is going to go down over the next decade. Yes, NWA is booming and growing. Fayetteville is adding 1,500 people a year right now, if not more. I'd still prefer a 78,000 seat stadium that's really, really nice to a larger one that we rarely fill up.

We need nicer, not bigger.

This stadium update mostly does that and every stadium update moving forward should do that.

Buddy.

This is the lil ole Arky mentality that has held our athletic dept. back from swinging for the fences. This is the SEC, the biggest baddest conference in the country. If yall just want to have a wine and cheese parlor next to the football field that's great I guess but it's not the commitment to winning that the other schools are making. Why do we have to max out at mid 70k seats and quit trying to expand? Did you know that Auburn expanded to an 85,000 seat stadium in 1987. Auburn is a town about the same size as Fayetteville in rural Alabama and the school doesn't have some Crimson Tide level history or huge student body.

The point I'm trying to make is that other schools in the conference are expanding big (aTm, Bama, LSU, MSU). Even SCAR has had an 80K seat stadium since the mid 90's and they share a state with another Power school.

Meanwhile we're probably gonna add a couple thousand seats and a bunch of you just think it's amazing while you sit in your upperdeck seats admiring the 500 fans that benefit from the $160,000,000 pricetag facelift

The 2001 expansion was a 45% increase in capacity. That's an insane increase to absorb. For perspective, that would be like adding 31,000 seats today.

I'm totally fine with 75,000 seats, SRO of 2,000 and the opportunity to add 5,000 more at some point in the future with little disruption.

I'm not a size-first person. Once you're up over 70,000 you're in the top tier of the country anyway. We have a nice stadium that seats 72,000, but looks more like 85,000 due to our insatiable appetite for luxury suites and club-seating. We have a great stadium. It won't ever be the biggest. No sense in trying.

Another thing. One of the reasons our football budget is always top-shelf is due to the fact that luxury suite tickets basically cost $2,000 per ticket for the season, not including foundation donation.

We have a lot of those. I'm all for getting more of those and letting the blue-collar fans come to games for $25 per.

We need to strive for being the nicest 75-80K stadium more than anything else. Biggest seats and most leg room of any major program would be a much more impressive feat than being yet another school that can't sell-out for non-marquee games.
