And, yes the point with florida would make sense, except there is a huge difference in travel, to see Jr. play for the hogs from talahassee and Memphis. Duh!

So Alex Collins doesn't go to Arkansas and chooses to stay in Florida because it's too far away and his family won't be able to see him play. Got it.

Sure... Choose the one dude .. that came from florida and stayed..

Yeah yeah....

You know what I mean, the distance is much closer and we should be able to pull a couple of players out if the Memphis metro area.

You know we have about seven other players on our roster from the State of Florida as well, right? I thought we were making a conscious effort to recruit talent from that state.

Do you remember how long it had been since we have played a football game in the State of Florida? Like Wolf Brand Chili it's been too long.

No, I thought we had 3 of them booted, and two sitting on their butts....

We haven't been hitting Florida as hard as we did, It seems. Texas and LA is getting a bit more attention than it was.

Memphis metro has gone the way of LRSD in regards to players.

And if there is a good one he'll go to Bama or OleMiss

Yeah I think you always hear that kind of thing and it sounds good but there is really nothing to it. I doubt a team playing in a bowl or city in some particular region causes potential players to actually choose to play for that school to the exclusion of others. I've certainly never seen any empirical evidence to support it.

If that theory is true, wouldn't playing in Florida yield us as many recruits? And all of these games are televised in any event.

It does help. For starters, you can invite local recruits to practice. I don't understand your question with Florida, but I doubt that anyone would choose Memphis for recruiting purposes. Since it's on the Arkansas border, we'll probably have more Arkansas recruits, but there is a major 2017 OT we're recruiting in the area.

The problem I have is that we don't hardly recruit Memphis. Some say that we haven't since Albert Means, while others mention Penny Hardaway. Regardless of the reason, we haven't recruited Memphis hard since long before Bielema, imo.

We've spot recruited in Memphis with guys like Ken Hamlin and Tenarius Wright. We haven't exactly been mining the area, but there's talent there.

I grew up 30 minutes outside of Memphis and can effectively say that it has the same problem that East Arkansas does -- there are some great athletes there, but they're just not playing football.

We're also having the same problem recruiting Memphis that Tennessee does when Ole Miss is half decent. It's tough to ask a player to trek all the way across a state and into the mountains when Oxford is right there.
