Because they are fricktards who have never had good food.

And because they see it as an attack on "one of their own". Hogville never has been about free discussion.

I wouldn't go to Hogville for dining advice, or anything else for that matter.

This is what I was saying in my OP. People get PISSED if you question the CH. I just don't get it at all.

So you haven't heard the story of Frank sharing fish off his plate at the Hole? Its a story of legend.

From what I can gather, back before recruiting had all the information available like you do now, the owner of CH would make sure a certain group would have a table each official visit weekend, some of these guys are now the same guys who hang around on the recruiting forums like the one on HiV. That is part of the reason CH is like mecca for them, and you give one of these guys mod powers on a forum like that CH can never be called what it truly is or questioned why we take kids from inner cities out to the sticks, isolate them, serve them a fried bottom feeder fish, and make them think they are in the middle of nowhere on the OVs here.

The Frank story involves some random talking about going up to Frank asking for an autograph while he was in there and Frank had a plate of extra fish and he was talking about how great the fish was and Frank offered him a fillet of fish right off his plate because Frank was a down to earth guy like that.

Lackluster I know, I built it up too much, it was out of nowhere in a thread like this defending CH on OVs.

It is my understanding that Pat does not like the HiV owner one ounce.

I can't explain why people defend it on that place, but I do know Pat has nothing to do with tardville.

As for a reasoning behind why they go there...it's one night that they have the family gathering. Not many parents want to see all the bars and whores. Most of these kids on official visits will have a member of their family with them. The recruits always seem to love it, and I believe one of our recent signees requested hush puppies prior to arrival.

Pat is good people and is one of the biggest supporters the program has. They cater a ton for the team throughout the year. He hosts the coaches show and barely makes a dime off of it after the UA gets their part. I know this past year, Pat didn't even go over to the show in his own place, it was that bad.

That's the reasonable explanation I can give you.

We all can claim loose women, party scene, etc is what draws recruits, and it is a factor. I can tell you though, back in the 90's when I took my recruiting trips, there was not a bigger turn off for my parents than being taken to a place such as a bar, or having young women easily at our disposal. That scene is for the night out with the team, when its only recruits. In our case, is usually Saturday night.

Enough.

The OP is a legit question. It has been answered.

We will not have any "Catfish Hole Scuttlebutt" commentary during this year's recruiting season.

I will delete every freaking post that wants to debate the wisdom of taking recruits to TCH.

End of discussion.

What a bunch of dickheads.

I think Hawgeye hit it on the head. Its a family atmosphere that is laid back and gives a taste of the rabid fan base we have. If i am a parent of a recruit i don't want to be down on Dixon and see the girl my son is probably going to dig out saturday night when i am not around.

Odds are most of them are down at Grubbs right now anyway. DJ Williams is having a CEO and Secretary party down there.

Its my screw up. I repent of my sins, beg for forgiveness, am currently saying 10 Hail the Popes, and punching myself in the face.

It should have been Dickson, not Dixon.

Good point. AND, I have heard that their steaks are some of the best in the area. Thy do throw the food at the recruits, catfish, chicken and steak. Yum, steak.

This. Dinner for the recruits at the Catfish Hole IS ONE DAMN MEAL about 2 hours out of their entire visit. That's about 4.17% of their time in a 48 hour typical visit. You damn idiots need to quit making ignorant and stupid remarks about where the coaches choose to take recruits and families to dinner because the Catfish Hole is a great place to do just that.

I’ve been involved in the recruitment process with my son (a sport other than football) and I can guarantee you that when we visited colleges I wasn’t interested in seeing how many drunken college students we could find or how many whores were out in force that night because I know ALL colleges have those things.

The Catfish Hole is a great place to take recruits and their families for a short time and the food is outstanding! And before you vilify me as someone who doesn’t know great food, know this. I’ve eaten at most NWA restaurants including Doe’s, Herman’s Bordinos and others and I travel frequently with my job and have eaten at some of the “best” restaurants in the United States including ones on Chicago, New York, Miami, Dallas, Kansas City, St. Louis, Atlanta and many, many others. The food at the Catfish Hole will rival the best and they serve more than just catfish and hush puppies at the recruits’ dinner.

Instead of looking for things to be negative about with the Catfish Hole why not focus on the positives? Never mind, it probably doesn’t fit your loser agenda and that’s what loser’s do, always look for the negative in everything.
