is still recruiting.... yes it's better.... but there's no denying we have not recruited well at LB
also it doesn't take a mental giant to realize we had some huge misses from an evaluation standpoint on the OL as well.

Whatever it takes to improve recruiting needs to happen fast.

it should also be pointed out that our OL commits for the coming year are 3 star guys.... not exactly lighting it up there.

KA needs to be let go. Coach should have just gone out and gotten Bob Bostad the whole time or someone who is an ace recruiter. KA had never recruited at a high level before, let alone in the SEC anywhere.

I'm not sure what some people expect, when is the last time we ever recruiting in the top 20 consistently?

Never. We are not as consistently good now because we play in a much tougher conference than the SWC ever was. It's not rocket science.

I was told by some old Ags back in the 1970s yall were the second choice for Texas talent.

Exactly, so I wish this idea of just bringing in a great recruiter and getting great classes would stop.

Yeah our program uses to be alot better than se on this board give it credit for. It's ok to expect excellence at arkansas. We shouldn't settle for 8-9 win ceilings. We are capable of winning 10 games every 3 years or so.

I don't disagree with that. I think averaging 9 wins is capable and reasonable. I just think we have to do it with a coach that is a good judge of talent and can coach them up. I don't think trying to find a coach who is great at recruiting is going to solve the issues.

When's the last time Oregion did it until 10 years ago? When's the last TCU did it until recently?

Times change. We have all of this SEC money. Where is it going?

They havn't even done it recently so I'm not sure what your point is

They have finished twice in the 40s over the past 5 years

I mean if we had Adidas pumping money into the program than we might have a shot

But look where tcu has also finished the past 5 years. I'd take a year like they're having now if next year or the year after we're playing in the rose bowl or cotton

Sure, they have had good coaching. That is my whole point. We don't need to find some great recruiter. TCU has done very well with some mediocre to bad recruiting.

We were, for a brief period in time, losing seasons still occurred, Holtz expanded the recruiting map way north instead of relying only on Texas.

The same TCU who this "bad" Arkansas team beat at home?

Patterson succeeds in taking the best athlete on their HS team (RB/QB) and convincing them to play LB/DB.

Meanwhile we try that and get guys who refuse to switch to the other side of the ball and either sit the bench for 4 years or transfer.

So, isn't that a sign of good coaching?

Do you really think recruiting classes of "athletes" and hoping they find a spot to stick will work in the SEC?

When did this become me wanting Patterson to become our coach? It has worked for him in the past with the Big 12 so it is a smart move. Just because I was giving Patterson props for that doesn't mean I want him.

It didn't.

Its a simple question, do you think his philosophy in recruiting will work in the SEC?
