I know I would hate that part of arkansas. Is UAM a good school?
Do they really have chalkboards?

I have connections to the AD. Hopefully, I can get a job within the AD.

Okay. That first pic with the math professor holding up the "2" coupled with the description is just cringe worthy.

Sounds like you've already got your mind made up that you will hate it, so....
Lots of awfully good folks in south Arkansas, but if your mind set is more geared to living in the city, you won't like it.
UAM has always gotten the short end of the stick in the University system when it comes time to dole out the money. And it shows, but they do have some very good programs there. At one time (not sure if still so) they had the recognized top pre-med program in the state. Of course, the forestry program is top notch.

It's God's country. IF you like to hunt, fish, farm.
Oh, and not many yankees down here either.

Well it is a small Southern town. Nice people and a nice school. I wouldn't call it a different country from NWA. But if you're an urban person you probably won't care for it.

Monticello is a nice little town in a dry county.UAM is known for Forestry and Nursing programs, nice little campus.
Good cell service and Uverse Internet in town.Walmart Super Center and usual fast food restaurants plus some local eating places.
I believe it would be a good place to live for awhile if you don't have to be entertained at clubs and such.

Monticello is much like Arkadelphia. Its nice, but I found myself driving across the state back home every chance I got...

its only 180 miles from batesville.
I doubt I will be making that drive every weekend.

If you can handle living in Batesville I think you can deal with living pretty much any smaller town in Arkansas. I really love the Batesville area, but most places in the state are livable.

I am on campus there a fair amount now with a college ministry. I love the school, and love living in this area, but it is close to where I was raised. It's a slower lifestyle, and a very low cost of living. More racially diverse than the Ozarks. To each his own. If you move down, and need a good vet, then come fine us at Monticello Animal Clinic.

I get that you don't like South Arkansas, but why would you put that out here? I've never even lived in South Arkansas and still find myself offended.
