So imagine that both the Patterson and Gruden rumors are true, which one?

Who would you rather have of the two? I'd personally say Gruden simply because even though he doesn't like recruiting, he would barely have to try to get top 10 classes every year. He'd just have to walk into the kid's living room sit down and say, "Play for me." and the kid will drop a load in his pants and sign immediately.

I don't want to live in fantasy land.

ETA: Actually, I do. I want to go back in time and tell Bobby "wear a helmet".

Probably Gruden

He'd be the only one who could compete with LSU, Bama, etc. in recruiting

If we got Gruden, that would be the plan in place.

Gruden would come in for 2-4 years tops to save the program and bring it back from the dumpster, probably a BCS bowl, then gone.

Then we'd bring in a top tier college coach to take over a current Top 15 program/team.

In a dream world.

Patterson, unless you can name one QB that Gruden has developed.

He won a Super Bowl with Tampa fricking Bay with Brad fricking Johnson as the QB. What else do you want?

proof that he'll be a solid recruiter, can manage all the aspects of being a Head Coach, not get us into a bunch of recruiting violations, and some way to know he wouldn't instantly jump back to the pros within a year or two.

Nutt did a decent job here with Ford's players and with Orgeron's at Ole Miss.

Best I can tell, Gruden's success came with Dungy's team at Tampa.

He won't even have to try to get recruits. They'll be waiting for the offer to play for him.

Already been one multiple times.

See first note.

No proof of that. But all he has to do is dig Arkansas out of this dumpster fire and get us back in BCS shape. Our next hire can be the lifer.

Yeah because the team Gruden left Bill Callahan in Oakland wasn't in the Super Bowl or anything.

Goes both ways there chief.

The same Bill Callahan recruits were going to run to at Nebraska?

This is about Gruden not Callahan so wtf do I care about Bill Callahan at Nebraska? Has nothing to do with this conversation.

You discredited Grudens super bowl claiming it was Dungy's team when you failed to realize the team they played was Grudens old team. Herp Derp.

I didn't fail to realize anything.

You are failing to convince me that Gruden would succeed on the college level and no one has yet to compile a compelling argument for such.
