So we get to beat the shite out of Texas Tech in Fayetteville next year? I'll take it.

Twice.

But it still sucks we get the worst team in the challenge as a return from playing @ISU last year. Tech will be absolutely terrible again and provide no RPI help even with a win will likely hurt our RPI, it really sucks honestly.

If we're likely a bubble team, we needed to get a solid team in Bud Walton to boost our RPI/resume. OSU, Texas, Kansas, Baylor, WVU...any of those would have been a billion times better for us.

ESPN expects us to suck after losing Portis and Qualls along with 4 of 5 starters off this past years team. Not really hard to see why we got paired with Tech.

We're a projected bubble team on ESPN....doesn't scream "suck" to me. If/when we land Allen that will probably go up a bit more at that.

It takes time for freshmen to develop. It's not like we are adding next year lottery picks to the roster from this recruiting class.

Considering we'll only start maybe 1 freshman (Allen) I don't see that as a primary concern. Team will have plenty of experience across the board.

It's not like we'll rely on Whitt or Allen for 15ppg+, they'll be inconsistent like most freshmen, Allen may score 25 one game and 8 the next. The odds that Whitt, Allen, Beard, Bell, Hannahs, etc are all off on the same night is pretty slim.

But that really doesn't have much to do with being matched up with TTU, bubble team or not. Big 12 probably didn't want one of their schools getting beat in Bud Walton like most do, even though we all knew ISU in Aimes last year, was going to beat our arse (and we were a bubble team preseason last year too).

Them giving us TTU as a return game is a joke. Long will have to find us a solid OOC opponent on his own, because we certainly didn't one in return for this challenge. If not, it'll be the second consecutive year we haven't had a marquee OOC home game, and that too, is unacceptable.

Ultimate you don't think Whitt starts?

If we got 3 guard, I think he'll start by mid season tbh.

I think Allen is the better player right now and would start over him (especially physically if starting 3 guards which we will), this is all assuming we get Allen. So that leaves Whitt to beat out a senior in Bell, which I don't think happens. Maybe late in the year if Bell isn't shooting well, but we'll really need his experience in the starting lineup.

Whitt is 6'3 170, while Allen is 6'3 190 and much more physically ready across the board. Whitt will be spending all summer in our new weight room in the practice facility. He is really, really small right now.

I dono, I think defense will be key.

I could easily see Whitt coming in and owning up on defense. If I'm not mistaken, that part of his game is considered high level/elite.

good problem to have though and who knows how Hannahs turns out. Apparently there's a lot more to his game than most expect.

I would be surprised, starting wise, unless he can really bulk up, Allen is just more ready right now.

I'd guess team 2 right now would feature Durham, Hannahs, and Whitt as the 3 guards.
