Friday’s main event features the classic matchup between a wrestler and a striker, as Jordan Johnson and LaMarcus Tucker vie for the RFA’s vacant light-heavyweight belt. Johnson is a former Iowa wrestler and Tucker doubles as a boxer. Both fighters consider themselves more varied than they sometimes are given credit for. “I wrestled at a high level, but have fought all kinds of fighters,” Johnson said. “A lot of wrestlers want to shoot in right away and get on top to feel safe. I don’t necessarily play like that. I happen to have heavy hands. “I don’t have a gameplan going in that I’m going to do this, but I’m always looking to attack. I want to hit to hit (my opponent) as hard as I can and if that’s work, I’ll keep doing it until I drop him. If he is showing me his head, I’ll attack that and go for a submission.” “I plan on knocking (Tucker) out.” Countered Tucker: “I make sure to take away what they’re good at. If that’s wrestling, I try to get the to stand and bang with me. I do that with constant movement and still keeping them in range with jabs. I’ve been going up against wrestlers since I turned pro.” Tucker, of Batesville, Arkansas is 4-1 in the boxing ring. “It has its good days and those days in which I think, ‘Oh no, I’ve got to go to my next (practice),” Tucker said of his double duty. “I love it and love getting better. “I love MMA. When I started boxing, it was pretty much just a hobby. But I actually became pretty good at it. I like to do both and like kickboxing, as well. If a big opportunity comes up for me in MMA, boxing or kickboxing, I’m like, ‘Let’s do it.’”
