We weren't supposed to win that game. I guess the SEC had decided it was best for the conference nationally for ole miss to win.

One of the only times I can remember lately where we were able to overcome SEC bias and win.

Yeah...I was at the game and forgot to set the DirecTV app to record...so I recorded the replay both on SECN and on ESPN...in both cases during the replay they cut out everything after Tolliver's interception where Coley got tossed out. I mean...nothing.

You see the interception and as the play ends...boom...abrupt commercial then it comes back saying picking up due to time...with all mention of that crap deleted.

So...question: What did they talk about then as it was the worst call I've seen in a while based upon what I could see in my seat on the jumbotron.

Do we have that under protest or something? Is that why the Hillaryesque editing is done on the replay?

Who knows anything :)?

I just watched the game on Watch ESPN and they showed the hit by Coley from multiple angles. Their helmets hit but not very hard. He never lowered his head and he used his arms to hit the guy in the lower shoulderpad area.

The announcers kept talking about him being "defenseless" but the OM player was facing Coley and even put his hands up at the last second. I'm usually a proponent of the targeting rule but that one was just a stupid call.

The ref said "the call of targeting stands" which means they didn't have enough evidence to overturn it.

I'm more pissed about the phantom offsides penalty that wiped out an interception.

To be fair, we were offsides on the last series of the game but they called false start on Ole Miss.

Targeting call was iffy, but definitely wasn't the worst call of the night. There were several others that gave me flashbacks to UF in '09....

I thought that at first too, but on the replay, their right tackle flinches, causing our guy to jump, causing their RT to go all the way back.

Very iffy.

My biggest beef with that entire sequence was the "iffy" call on Coley, but then AA nearly having his head ripped off and it just being a 15 yard penalty.

If they are going to go after defensive players against defenseless WRs, then some type of flagrant facemask penalty needs to be enforced going forward. The hit and facemask to AA was so much worse than what Coley did.

Not to mention the no-call late hit out of bounds

Let's not forget the no-call where Hatcher was standing over an Ole Miss defender with his head at his knees while the OM DB attempts to unscrew his head.

I don't understand the targeting calls where the collision was basically unavoidable, just like Coley's. I don't see how it's in the realm of possibility that a DB and a WR, both running at 100% full sprint, are supposed to stop on a dime before colliding into eachother. Coley wasn't leading with the helmet, the recoil of the hit itself seemed to cause his head to snap forward a little bit and make contact with the WR's chin/neck area. He'd have to have literally lightning fast reflexes and eyes on the back of his head to stop between the time the interception was made and the collision.

I just hate that there doesn't seem to be any discretion with these rulings.

Neither do the refs

They have been bad for everyone over the last few years

The SEC can overturn the one-half suspension of a targeting call right? Really hope we ask for that.

I'm not really sure. I just glad we aren't facing a team that likes to air it out. We could certainly use him this weekend but it could be worse.

I want to say Tom Murphy said on the radio this morning that Bielema would be contacting the league office about getting Coley's 1st half suspension overturned.

We were lined up offsides, and on replay you can see the flag enter the screen at the bottom when the ball is snapped.

It was 100% legitimate, just nobody saw the flag on the ground.

I didn't see anyone lined up offsides on tv (neither live nor the replays) and the announcers said they couldn't see anyone offsides.

They even said something to the effect that "we'll have to get back to you when we figure out why that flag was thrown"

Eta: I'm not arguing the correct call wasn't made, just never saw it on tv. The angle wasn't great though and you couldn't even see the WRs/corners.

They showed a better angle later that showed our guy over the line I thought.
