If our Dline is supposed to be as good as advertised then why did our Oline struggle so bad? It would seem that they would be competing in practice everyday.

Getting your arse whooped every day doesn't always translate into rapid positive growth. I honestly think they are adjusting to new faces on the line and a new coach that stresses techniques they are not familiar with. Oline takes a bit to work the kinks out. I would like it to be sooner than later, but we know how this story goes.

It probably would have been wise for Bielema to let Smith blitz the shite out of the OL more often in those scrimmages.

I agree. The tape they should be watching of Froholdt blocking air should be of the fall scrimmages, not the first game of the season.

Our problems were all upstairs. Time for Anderson to earn his money and get that corrected pronto.

Froholdt should see every blitz we have this week.

What style defense does TCU play? Are they a 335 43 or 34? Or some other crazy one I'm not thinking of?

In the past it was the 4-2-5. Didn't see their game last week though. Could be mainly because of the B12 spread teams.

Patterson basically invented their version of the 4-2-5. There is a ton of information out there on it but here's a quick overview.

Wonder if Ragnow at center could do more to help Froholdt

I thought the center usually helps to make sure defenders are accounted for before the snap.

Didn't notice that happening last Saturday.

From that article

There is nothing worse than a secondary coach who is always worried about getting beat deep.

Sounds like our coaching staff.

I love everyone complains about the bend don't break now but when we're playing tight snd allowing two long touchdowns a gsme they'll be calling for smith's head.

We play bend don't break because we don't trust our corners to play press and jam. If we did we would take the easy throws away from these spread offenses and it would give our pass rush a chance to get home.

I'm sure if we had the personel, we would. It just hurts watching a freshman know to just throw to the guy who has most cushion. If we don't make any changes or try something else it will happen every game.

Now what would be nice is if we knew a team would do this and we got someone to jump the route underneath the cushion but I doubt that happens.
