Two big shopping centers are going in where the sale barn used to be and where the old airport is. A few others stores are going in along with several places to eat and a hotel.

The Sam's shopping area will go where the sale barn used to be and be called Lewis crossing, in honor of Tommy Lewis who started the sale barn. And the Dillard's shopping area will go where the old airport is. It'll be called Cantrell landing, I believe. Definitely something with Cantrell in the name. There's also gonna be another overpass linking these two areas. All of this will enable people to do most if not all of their shopping in Conway and not have to drive to Little Rock.

tldr Conway's moving on up

eta work on it is supposed to start this summer

I'd be pissed at you if I were from Conway, calling it LR.

All part of the Central AR metro area. Without LR, Conway is nothing. Without Conway, LR is just fine.

I haven't been to Conway in a decade. I bet I'd barely recognize the place. Is the original Stoby's still there?

Conway is growing probably more so than other nearby LR bedroom communities. It has a lot to offer now.

New jail and courthouse--I'll be headed to the courthouse next week.

And yes Stoby's is still good.

Originally from Conway. I get back on occasion, but I haven't been to Stoby's in ages. Always seem to end up at Zaza's for some reason when we're there.

That's great, but I wish they'd just go on & build a real mall in Conway. Going to LR is a pain in the arse every time I need to really shop. That's one of the few things I'm going to miss about living in BR. The Mall of LA, Towne Center, & Perkins Rowe, plus most of the other decent shopping areas & boutiques are all within a few minutes of me.

I think Conway could absolutely support more nice shopping areas considering its population & the schools there. People get tired of having to go to LR for most serious shopping, especially if they commute to LR for work during the week, then have to go right back on the weekends. I'm glad it's relatively close, but that drive between LR & Conway gets old all the time, particularly with all of the construction that is continuous & the heavy traffic. It doesn't seem so short when driving it constantly.

I love what is going on in Conway, some significant players developing there. Very vibrant community.

I have said that for years and years. Supposedly, they have more stores coming into this one that will make it a real mall. That said, they do have much better shopping now than when I lived there for sure, it used to be nothing but strip mall after strip mall after strip mall with one decent store out of the bunch.

Another thing I think they've done a great job with is prettying up downtown, it looks great- some of the store fronts could be in any big city anywhere.

Heck, I hardly go into Little Rock proper to shop anymore anyway. Most everything I need is in Benton/Bryant. But then, a Sam's is not that necessary for me, nor a Dillards.
Two new shopping centers being built in the area too, not to mention the outlet mall (which is not that big a draw for me.)
Talk of a Dave and Buster's going in down in the Otter Creek area, but I don't know much about them either.
Conway is a nice town, just too far for me.

Benton/Bryant is really growing as well, but don't know what the percentage is compared to Conway. All three are going gangbusters.

I love downtown Conway. Besides its looking great, there are some really quality shops there. I've found some very nice antiques for some clients in one particular store downtown, & I adore the Christmas store, and of course, the Hog shop. The restaurants are very good as well. Mike's Place is one of my faves. ...

I've been wondering for years about Dillard's & Sam's not being in Conway. Glad they've come to their senses & are finally putting them in. That will help tremendously since pretty much everyone I know in Conway/Greenbrier goes to LR for those 2 stores, regularly. ...

While they're building stuff, someone needs to open a relatively large for real toy store that isn't Toys R Us. Something with unique, higher end things - a some old school-some new stuff kids' store - mainly cool products you order mostly through catalogs/magazines & internet. I've thought about doing it, but would have to have investors as well. I'm too old to be risking everything at this late date.
