Thought you might enjoy this little diddy I came across. Maybe you've seen this as it's a couple months old.
LINK
This doesn't include the pollutants from animal waste spread throughout pastures that windup in the water supply via runoff and ground leeching. That number would be truly astronomical if included with the effect of transportation pollutants within the food chain too.
I'm glad I've got an unadulterated clean spring fed water source out here in the boonies.

Yeah, its bad.
Every year we have swimming holes/waterways closed due to e-coli and other pollutants.
interactive map
Here are some from last June:
• Devil’s Fork (Greers Ferry Lake), Cleburne Co.
• Waveland Beach (Blue Mtn. area) Yell Co.
• Albert Pike, Montgomery Co.
• Lake Weddington, Washington Co.
• Beaver Swim Beach (located on White River), Carroll Co.
• Lake Leatherwood, Carroll Co.
• Blanchard Springs (Main), Stone Co.
• Horsehead Lake, Johnson Co.
• Joplin (Mtn. Harbor area), Montgomery Co.
• Brookhill, Garland Co.
• Lake Ouachita State Park, Garland Co.
• Spring Beach (both Spring Beach locations on Lake Ouachita)
• Piney Bay, Johnson Co.
• Shoal Bay, Logan Co.
• Current River, Randolph Co.
• Jacksonport, Jackson Co.
• Spring River Beach, Sharp Co.
• Kia Kima, Sharp Co.
• Mirmichee, Sharp Co.
Thank goodness, my river pumps out almost 10 million gallons an hour. Headed back up to the Villa today for a week or so.

Damn, that's a longer list than I thought it would be. Thanks for sharing pigfeet.

I guess I'm not able to open the link on mobile
What is it? Point source pollution?

Don't forget all the pig shite going into the Buffalo River.

To be fair, that's mostly Cargill.

Tis true, but shite is still shite and it's leaking into the water table too.

damnn right it is. Whoever approved that farm really needs to be strung up.
Common sense is completely gone in our government now.
I think Cargill really had ulterior motives w/ that pig farm.
Tyson pulled all of their pig production out of Arkansas a decade plus ago due to the logistics of feed/processing/labor etc. and the ecological problems they were starting to face w/ their inability to manage the liquid pig waste.
Cargill has fewer assets in Arkansas and putting that farm so far out in N. Central Arkansas away from their other pig operations didn't really make fiscal sense to me.

It's really disgusting.
There's a group of abandoned Tyson Hog farms adjacent to where my dad had his chicken farm when I was a kid. They've been shut down at least 15 years now, drive by there today and you'll see acres and acres of dead trees and compared to the rest of the landscape in NWA it looks like a barren wasteland, the land hasn't been sold for some reason. The water up there had heavy levels of iron in it and to make things worse the property sits on of the highest points in Washington County above a water reservoir.
Iron heavy water is most commonly a result of bacterial iron, I'm sure the waste from hundreds of thousands of pigs played zero part in adding bacteria to the groundwater.
Something funky is going on w/ that property.

Shoal Bay & Piney Bay on Lake Dardanelle have reopened. Both were deemed safe after E. coli re-testing.
The Corps of Engineers said the only beaches closed right now are Waveland Swim Beach on Lake Dardanelle & Sandy Beach on Greers Ferry Lake.

State-hired scientists continued to state Friday that research shows no evidence that C&H Hog Farms is polluting its surrounding environment in the Buffalo River watershed, and the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality announced it would commission a study of the facility as requested by opponents of the hog farm.

Tom Coulter reports from a meeting of the Arkansas Pollution Control and Ecology Commission that the state WILL hire an independent analyst to check the integrity of waste ponds at the C and H Hog Farm in Mount Judea.
The hog farm — a concentrated factory swine feeding operation — has been controversial since state approval for its location next to a creek that feeds the Buffalo National River. Studies to date have provided some indication that hog waste is leaking into the ground below, with potential to travel into the waterways.
