So we don't have to go deep in the SEC tournament, and we can have a little more time to rest up for the big dance.

Guess it would be nice, but those deep Conference tournament runs hurt more than help, especially in baseball.

I like this. Take all the wins we can get.

And also keeping at least a 4 seed gives us an extra bye

Double bye would be nice for sure.

I keep seeing this sentiment, why do people think a double bye would be such a great thing?

If we're the 5 seed we play the winner of the 12/13 game. If we're the 4 seed we play the winner of the 5 vs. 12/13 game. Not much difference there. If we're just trying to get the magic number of 23 wins, I'd rather play the 12/13 than the 5.

Yeah, those deep conference tournament runs really kill LSU, Florida, and Vanderbilt.

I would never want our team to not win, but I really don't want to be an 8 or 9 seed in the NCAA. Hopefully if we win we out we can get bumped all the way to a 7.

If we win out, which includes beating Florida at Florida, we'll be at least a six seed

No. Our ceiling is around an 8 seed. Maybe a 7 seed. 7 seed being winning out and then winning the SECt.

Too late in the game to make a push that high. We don't want an 8 or 9 seed just based on the 2nd round matchup. 7, 10, 11 is about where this team needs to be in order to make a Sweet 16 run. 11 would obviously be more favorable for a Sweet 16 run. Depending on the 2 seed we are matched up with as a 7 or 11 could limit us to a 2nd round loss again.

A little different scenario because in recent years, those 3 schools have been National seeds, which allows them to host and get to play against weaker teams. If the Friday starter needs rest, normally their Sat/Sun guys are good enough to get the job done.

Essentially what this boils down to is that very good teams with quality depth are better than middle of the pack teams. Pretty high level analysis right there.

Its been the excused given by DVH so his team can be home early (when they make the SEC-T), enjoy the weekend, and rack up a couple alcohol related arrests.

Because it is an unrealistic jump. 6 seed is 5 spots higher than what most project Arkansas as right now. Its just not happening. That is basically jumping 15-20 teams in the seeding pecking order. Not possible.

Now, had we not shite the bed to Missouri and gotten blown out by Vandy, then yes Arkansas would likely be playing for a 4, 5, or 6 seed right now. We would also be 22-5 and be 5-4 against the RPI top 50.

Whats done is done, so there is no need to rehash what this team has done. Overall though, 6 seed just isn't going to happen no matter what we do the rest of the way.

Best case scenario is winning out the season against the middle of the pack competition we have left and then maybe stealing a game against UF. UF is just a bad matchup for us, but them being thin down low gives us a better shot than we had a week ago. See where the chips fall and hopefully, for a small tourney run's sake, we land as a 7, 10, or an 11. I want no part of an 8 or 9 seed and playing a 1 seed in the second round. Though, if we did end up an 8 or 9, best case would be playing below Baylor and being in the Tulsa region.

Actually, Most recent brackets project us as about a 9 seed. If this team were to win out with Ws at UF and win the SEC-T which would presumably mean another win against a UF/UK on a neutral court, I think a 6 seed would very much be in play.

Realistically I think this team is going to end up somewhere in the 8-10 range. But it is certainly not out of the realm of possibility for them to climb into the 6 seed range if they were to play out of their minds and win out all the way through Nashville.
