True. Very true. Just saying the starters are the bigger problem.

We have 3 freshmen on the two-deep, one of which is a walk-on. Yes, depth is a problem.

Couple that with the fact we have a few guys out of position in effort to get the best 5 on the field at the same time, and it's both.

Whose fault is that in year 3?

Yeah, CBB is the reason we only have 7 players remaining on the team from the 2 recruiting classes before he got here, amirite? It's like they're limiting him to under 25 new players each year or something, cause he's fat.

You're saying he has no hand in limited OL depth across the classes? Slurp... Slurp.

Bert recruited everyone on the two deep with the exception of Smothers (who's probably our worst starter) and Danenhauer. However, we were starting 2 walk-ons in 2012 and had to start 2 true freshmen in 2013. This isn't just a Bert issue.

I don't think some of you understand the depth issue we had in 2012 and 2013, and it's not something you overcome overnight. In 2013, we started two walk-ons on the OL and two walk-on seniors at LB, so it should come as no surprise that those are two shallowest positions right now. That doesn't excuse losing to Toledo, getting abused by Tech or being unable to hold late leads, but it is what it is.

And my post above was wrong -- we actually have 4 freshmen (true and redshirt) on the two-deep, not 3.

Never said it was JUST a Bert issue. The argument is that we're relying on 3 (err 4) freshmen in the 2 deep. Didn't he have 2 other classes to build that depth? If he knew he needed more depth than he had, which is the excuse we're hearing, maybe he shouldn't have given a walk-on DB or somesuch a scholarship. Maybe he should have signed a couple of JUCO OL.

In his third year, Bert should get more blame for roster issues than a guy that hasn't been here in 4 years.JMHO

Has nothing to do with this:

If you say so. How many scholarships is he going to hand out this year? Less than 20? How many walk-ons has he put on scholarship in the last couple of years? At least a few. So I'm just thinking that, unless he's only giving 1 yr scholarships, that his kindness is costing us room for more advanced players.

You have to realize this is ocelot you're dealing with. The guy who got pissed that we were recruiting more O linemen than any other position.

People actually had to explain to him that there are more offensive linemen on the field than any other position, and that's why we recruit so many.

I think we win out at home (4 more)...beat Ole Miss and lose to LSU.

7-5...and really not too bad considering the injuries and the head scratching loss to what turns out to be pretty damn good Toledo team.

our o line got it's arse whipped from the first snap of the game. you dont' "rotate" o lineman. just not that good. they are not horrible. but not dominate

biggest weakness on the team IMHO are the safties. not physical enough, not great in coverage either. Santos will be okay in a year or so

Link? And holy frick you're Ocessed. Do you keep a fricking diary of my posts?

And no one had to explain that to me. Seriously? Are you SERIOUSLY suggesting that I didn't know there are more OL on the field? SERIOUSLY? And people fricking believe you?

You people are sad.

you do rotate oline men to give them rest atleast a series or 2 or even just some plays. the problem is we are not comfortable enough to do that. yes we got whipped from the start to finish but I said before the season we was not as dominant on the offensive line as the media hyped us to be. we was 9th in rushing in league play last year. even with great improvement 3rd would be phenomenal. that is not what the hype was saying. we are much better this season though. we still need more depth and we need true tackles. I think we take 20-22 players this year. after next season we will have a mass exodus and will take our full allotment. be prepared for in this system having years with alot of seniors some years and some years having significantly less because of retention and us having to take less players some years.

in the years we have less it will be considered a rebuilding year. maybe not rebuilding as much as a year where we aren't as good as usual.
