I'd bet a nice bulk of the staff he wants have bowl games to coach in as well.

I'm sure within a few days we'll have some guys on board and out on the road recruiting.

Talked to my buddy a few minutes ago, looks like Coach B has been talking to Jay Norvell about being OC.

Would certainly be a big hire in terms of recruiting

his on the field play calling is questionable according to his job history and oklahoma fans. With that said they don't want to lose his recruiting ties.

According to Oklahoma fans Venables is a horrible DC (I would somewhat agree, not the best at his job), but he also is a lackluster recruiter.

Stoops is a mediocre head coach.

Basically no one is good enough for OU fans...

An Idea that popped up in my head.

Keep Paul Haynes and Taver Johnson and go get Ed Orgeron as DL and Co-DC if needed.

Would be awesome as hell.

Would work, he is great at identifying guys who will develop into great players, but may not be highly rated (stars on rivals) players as well on the defensive side of the ball, especially on the d-line and linebackers.

I would be OK with giving Haynes and Johnson another year or two to see how they recruit and coach, especially if Allen is moved to an administration role (I've never been convinced he's the "great" coach every one says he is, seems the position he is moved to always regresses, JMO).

Not that my opinion matters.

Norvell is interesting because he was a defensive player in college and NFL (DB/LB), yet is a OC and also because he runs every thing but a power run game at OU.

Haynes and Johnson both came from Ohio St, right? seems like Bielama should be pretty familiar with them and their work.

I've never really been a big fan of venerables. However I did some more digging on Jay Norvell. He'd be a dynamite hire. However i'm not sure about the whole west coast offense thing.

yea i've met a couple. I should have known better than to trust their opinion right off the bat.

The wait is killing me. We need to hire someone pronto. Is the old staff still at work recruiting?

Evidently some of them are. I saw where Jamal James has been talking to Klenakis about coming back into the fold now that BB has been hired.

That's better than nothing but in january when we're trying to build recruiting ties after firing all these guys it's going to be very difficult.

This better be a pretty elite level staff if we're waiting this long.

We're behind the 8ball on 2 recruiting classes, so time is pretty important here. Especially when Jucos that could come in and contribute day 1 can sign in 8 days.
