A Lincoln 5th grader destroyed all comers going 7-0 to win the individual Chess National Championship Tournament last week in Nashville.

The school had 5 of their entrants place in the top 10 to take the overall team title as well. Was a crushing win.

A Championship has finaaaaaaaalllllyyyy come home again for NWA. Can Geena Davis tell me how non-diverse NWA is again as this tiny town out in the boonies had Asian, Hispanic and Caucasian kids on the team while Los Angeles has neighborhoods that are self-segregated by both race and nationality.

Very proud of those kids for both playing chess in a pretty redneck town and for being a small school taking the rest of the country to the woodshed on a national stage.

Also shame on you NWADG for not reporting on these kids when you ran multiple stories on Har-Ber's Mock Trial team competing in the national contest where they finished an impressive 42nd. HA!

The Democrat-Gazette isn't worth wiping your arse with.

I'm calling the team sponsor when school lets out here in a bit, see if we can't organize a parade for those kids or something.

I mean yea you'll get a single prodigy come through once in a while, but 5 out of the top 10 for a rural school is pretty special. It's the sign of a good program with kids that are committed and competitive.

Yeah Lincoln has some poor farm kids. I'm always rooting for the poor farm kids.
