Michael Qualls speaks to students at Huntington. Says he'll talk to family for a few days before deciding on future.

Qualls will sit down with his old H.S. coach, Mack Jones, to talk about future. Qualls says Jones will likely tell him to stay in school.

Qualls says he could go pro right now but only has 13 hrs left to graduate. "If you want options, those are the type of options you want."

Qualls receives plaques from Huntington H.S. for his service and support to the school. They are pretty proud of him here.

he seems like a pretty smart guy and this only cements that:

not that he would be dumb if he left but just saying, that's a smart and mature response.

With only 13 hours left couldn't he just finish this summer? If they offer the classes he needs of course.

I know he wouldn't be able to declare for the NBA draft but not sure how the process to play overseas works. Not that I want that to happen

He could go now and earn a very decent salary. I think if he waits a year and develops his game more then he earns a lot more. A pro athlete has a career measured by ticks of the clock. Front load the money when you can.

I understand he doesn't have home state loyalties and he has a young child to think about but from everything I've heard, he is super smart and doesn't have much school left to get that degree.

You'd think he would want to finish what he started...academically and athletically. I hope it's good news. He's one of my favorites to watch in a long time.

I completed 16 hours one summer, it sucked, bad.

It was worse than taking 22 hours in a fall semester.

This happened to me. I needed 12 hours to finish and was planning on taking them all during the summer. Except one class in my degree program was only offered in the fall so I had to take 3 damn hours for sixteen weeks to finish.

He played against my high school in 2011, Qualls alone put up around 30-40 and Huntington beat us by about 50, it was a damn dunk contest when Huntington came to town.

Happened to me too lol. Majored in journalism and needed one more class so I took a grade forgiveness class that fall to redo a class from my freshman year and took a coaching football and public relations class for the hell of it

Meh, CMA said we will still recruit while waiting for Qualls/Portis to decide.

Also making the rounds that Miles will be transferring, thus making room for one more either way.
