Jonathan Williams & Alex Collins in the NFL

I am taking this from a Texans perspective. I highly doubt Foster is on the roster next year and Blue, Polk, and Grimes are far from the answer. So as I was looking in to potential draft prospects, I thought of Williams & Collins.
CBS has Collins with a 3rd round grade and Williams with a 4th to 5th.
Walter has Collins with a 2nd to 3rd and Williams with a 3rd to 5th.
I personally thought Williams was the better back watching it last year. Maybe the injury is why people are not as high on him.
Anyway I figured who better to consult than the guys that watch them the most.
1. Anyone have any idea if Collins is coming back or declaring?
2. How do you think each translate to the NFL?

If their projections are really that low, I wonder if it will make JWill consider coming back.
To answer your first question, most seem to think Collins is coming back, but I'm not on that boat. I think he gone.

I think JWill is better suited for the pros.

Williams came back because he was told 2nd or 3rd round..? Is that correct?

Who is this most? I know the pay-per-click guys all expect him to leave and Bielema has said as much in his pressers when talking about recruiting.

I like Collins in the pros better. His cuts, moves, agility, are better than JWill's and their both about the same speed. I think AC3 just has the better overall resume and tools.
I think those projections from CBS are about right, I'd take Collins in the late 2nd/3rd round but wouldn't take JWill any earlier than 4th round.

jwill is the better back. he is a complete back and a bell cow. If you guys take him he is a total stud and an exceptional human being.

I actually think JWill is the more NFL ready back, although it's clear by the projections that the injury has made his stock fall a bit. I think he'll be an asset to any team that takes him, he's a good character guy and plays with the most heart and effort I've possibly ever seen. NFL scouts will like that he can always gain yards after contact by churning his legs and falling forwards a few yards, even when there's nothing there. He doesn't shy away from contact at all, and dude is a wrecking ball that often destroys lone defenders trying to make tackles in space. He's very hard to bring down without a group, has great grip on the ball and seems to never fumble, has really good speed and footwork for a power back, and is a high character/leader type. It's solely the injury dropping his grade at this point.
I'm not 100% sold on Collins staying or going at this point. I think he really enjoys his time here and is loving his current feature back status, which would be the case next year as well. On the other hand, he has been in the doghouse quite a few times over things that he probably thinks are overreactions, and most kids at his age would view the NFL as having more freedom. I also have to believe that seeing what happened to JWill after he chose to come back will effect his decision. He possesses the best vision I've ever seen from a Hog RB, which is a huge compliment considering the backs that have been through here. He's more the slippery type that can make a tackler miss instead of trying to power through him, and seems easier to bring down than JWill. He has had issues with fumbles, but has also proven to have above average catching ability. While he's definitely capable of gaining a couple yards on short yardage situations, he's not a back that you'd put in when it's 4th and 2 with the game on the line unless you had no other option. He'd be a solid NFL back as long as there's a power back complimenting him for short yardage/change of pace and an O-line capable of opening up decent holes. He's got above average straight-line speed and will rarely take one to the house from outside the redzone; his biggest strength is the speed at which he changes direction.

Williams is the better college and NFL back.
This is not a knock in Collins.
Collins has very good vision and is shifty in tight spaces but I think Williams is more explosive to the hole.
There are both good in pass protection which is a must if you want to play in the NFL.

It's hard to compare the two because they have such different styles. A lot of people have said Collins is a Crowell or Chris Ivory type back. I'm not sure who Williams' best comparison is. I have always preferred Williams though because he is more of a home run threat and breaks more tackles. Collins can cut on a dime and has great vision though.
I do wonder if NFL teams will knock them for Bielema backs not having a whole lot of success in the league yet though

Thanks for the discussion guys. I would settle for either. I would kill for someone with some vision. Blue loves to run into the back of his blockers.

LOL.
No one has a damn clue how either will pan out in the NFL.
It's a crapshoot these days with RBs. Total crap shoot.

I think everyone has kind of forgotten that JWill was a pretty good receiver out of the backfield as well. Not that is a huge deal in the NFL though.

Collins needs to go to a team that runs a true zone bloking scheme he will exccel.
Johnathan willians needs to go to a team like the ravens. jut line up and run over people

Well that isn't true. If you pick a Big Ten back then 90% of the time he's not going to be good. Quick someone tell me the last successful NFL back from the Big Ten besides Bell.
On the flip side, SEC backs taken in the top 2 rounds have a good chance of hitting.
2015 - Gurly, Yeldon
2014 - Hill
2013 - Lacy, C-Mike
2012 - Richardson
2011 - Ingram
5/7 aint bad for the last 5 years.
