Looks like hes taking a team with 8 players to the NCAA Tourney in year 1. With a pretty good class coming in next years you think he'll make the Lady Hogs a nationally relevant team on a yearly basis?

Dude knows the game for sure.

They beat Ole Miss today in the 2nd round of the SEC tourney

What's he's done this year wih such a depleted roster has been extremely impressive. I'll admit I was extremely skeptical when he was hired but he is proving me wrong so far.

I was a huge fan of the hire, but mostly due to my complete apathy with the program over the last few years.

I figured that worst case scenario is that ESPN gave our program some props initially because of Dykes, he doesn't do well, he returns to broadcasting, and I return to being apathetic.

What Dykes is bringing to the university, is more than just a good WBB coach. and I do believe he is that!

Depleted roster, and yet he has managed this.

But he bring amazing exposure to all of our programs, he bring excitement to the program via social media, supporting other teams, etc. He meets with recruits for MBB and FB when they are on campus.
I am glad he is here period!

He has been a quality hire. We tossed a top five coach back in the day and dropped from being a perennial NCAAT team and SEC power to... well.. what our WBB program has been.

We need to give him another year or two and I think we will see some real improvement in that program.

He really cares about the team and program - he got a little choked up in the post game interview. Really regretted not going to the game.

It isn't a hindrance for him, an excuse, sure, but he will never have a rotation deeper than 8 players.

He wants to have a scorer and 4 role players around them, 3 on the bench to give breathers.

He will never get a player elite enough to win big with this formula, just as his mentor was never able too. He will be a sober, non-drug addict version of this man, Eddie Sutton.

you could tell when he was broadcasting that he had a deeper understanding of the game than most other play by play guys. I didn't know how well that would translate to coaching, but he's done a great job. I think he's great for the University.

Yeah, this doesn't seem fair to be honest. SC has so much more length than Arkansas. I'm pretty amazed that Jimmy's done so well with this team.
