Isn't Collins supposed to announce his NFL intentions today?

My understanding is that CBB would meet with AC and family today, (If his mom doesn't run off with... ) and try to convince Alex to come back.

I am hopeful but not optimistic. AC3 is one of my favorites. His feet are ABOUT as quick as any back I have ever seen.

I doubt he comes back. His stock isn't going to be much better next year in fact he may drop some without putting up huge numbers just based on who is expected to declare next year. He'd have all sorts of records but with fraudette and several other elite backs coming out It just wouldn't make much sense.

I mean... I guess it would be great for us if he comes back, but I'd also kind of question the decision. I don't really see much to be gained for him. I'd also HATE the guilt if he came back and got hurt.

Idk, but I just kind of have a different feeling about Alex. I know he definitely places getting a degree as a high priority, and he genuinely loves being a Razorback. From what I've heard, he truly wants to be a part of the program getting fully back on track, and that he really does consider "the team" a lot, maybe more so than others in similar circumstances. I have no idea what he'll decide, but he is a bit different than other players, & it just wouldn't shock me if he opts to stay.

experience should tell us that in most cases the lure of big money will change the minds of a lot of folks. I hope he comes back but I doubt he will. I think he has a good career ahead of him in the NFL and hope he does well!

Get that degree for free! He's got a 3.7 GPA apparently, the NFL is never a sure thing and contracts aren't guaranteed past a signing bonus.

He'll be taken care of no doubt in Arkansas and especially if he comes back for his Sr. year.

@TYSONR7: IMPORTANT REMINDER: Coach Bielema is meeting with Alex Collins and his family today in Florida to discuss if he will declare for the draft.

I have to agree in AC's case. ... And I adore Alex, not just as a player, but as a good guy, as well as a very smart one. I also think he's simply a beast as far as quickness on hitting the seams & anticipating them, not to mention his power & strength as a RB, but I'm a little concerned about his "top end" speed as far as the pros. I really wish he'd stay his sr. yr. & get his degree, & not just because I want him to play for us another year, although that's a huge benefit.

This would be the smart thing to do

But the lure of money is strong

It's not very often that you see runs of more than 20 yards in the pros. Adrian Peterson only had 10 all year for example. His ability to miss tackles in the first two levels of the defense is what a lot of folks don't have. If he can do that still at the pro level and average around 4.5 YPC then he'll do fine.

All very true, and I admit, I don't watch as much of the NFL as I used to except for a couple of teams. ... There's another reason I'd like to see AC stay at UofA his sr. yr. as well - to have a real shot at the Heisman. I really believe he would've been considered this year if our record was better, and believe he deserves to be if he were to perform as well next season as he did this one & we do better than 7-5. Just seems unfair, as great as he is, not to be in the running at least once in his college career.

My thought is take the money and if you need to come back and get the degree keep a little back in savings for that. Money now is usually better than money later based on my finance class.

No,
no it wouldn't.

Not sure what Bert is going to tell him. I think enough of Bert to feel that he's just going to lay out the facts of the situation as best he can and they will all come to the logical conclusion that A.C. needs to turn pro.

He will always have opportunities in Arkansas for what he has already done for the State, that doesn't change with a fourth year.

Pay dat man his money.

sniff sniff, i agree he needs to go but i don't want him to go. i want him to stay but then that's probably not the right decision for him and he deserves the best b/c i think he's given us 3 years of his best and sigh....

That's sort of my feels on AC as well. Obviously, I want what's best for him, which is why I'd love to see him get back what he's put into the Razorbacks. For a really great kid, both on & off the field, as well as the classroom, from Florida to genuinely want to go to Fayetteville when we weren't exactly at our best, with a new program, and give it everything he has for every second he's been there, I'd just love to see him reap some big benefits during his collegiate career like being there his sr. yr. when, hopefully, we might have a shot at an SEC championship, & be a Heisman contender - very possibly winning it. I believe it would be a battle between he & Fournette, probably. ... Anyway, I'm like you, I think all the Hog fans basically just "adopted" him, and seeing how much he gave & how much he seems to really love UofA, making it his home, we just don't want to turn him loose.
