USCjr is going to be a tough game, they are playing for 1st place in the SEC

Ole Miss has a chance at still making the tournament, and they always play us tough as hell.

0-2 and we officially done, unless they win the SEC tourney

1-1 and next week becomes this week

2-0 and Jeff Long gives Mike a max year contract extension, with 15.7 million dollar buyout

Hoping for 2-0, will be satisfied with 1-1 and won't be shocked with 0-2.

Would love 2-0, but expecting 0-2. LSU game didn't change anything for me and we historically have always had problems with Ole Miss no matter if it's on the road or at home.

Beating Ole Miss is much more important than beating SC. We cannot lose another home game this year.

I agree with Stonehog...we absolutely cannot lose another home game. Also, if we want to feel comfortable with our NCAA tournament spot, then we need to beat either South Carolina or Florida on the road. We really need a good win on our resume. I don't think I can name a "good" win this year.

I would feel a lot better if it was any other team than OM, outside of Fl and U.K., of course.

We have to steal one against USC or hope like hell we show up Sat. Hoping the USCjr game doesn't drain us too much, bc OM game is a must win, if we lose to SC

We need to go 4-2 and have a decent SEC Tournament run and we're in. If we can manage to only lose to Florida and USC East and not embarrass ourselves in the SEC tournament; I'd say we're a lock to make it in.

Even finishing 4-2, I don't think we can get embarrassed by S. Carolina or Florida in a loss. They need to be competitive losses.

Alabama has an easier schedule the rest of the way and just beat USCe so there is a chance they take the 4th seed from us, although I guess we have the head to head in case of a tie?

As a 5th seed in the SEC tournament, we would need to win two games to get to the NCAA tourney.

I'm pessimistic which is against my nature, but that's probably because in five tries, MA has only advanced past the first game of the mighty SEC tournament once.

Never felt we were playing our best ball toward the end of the season, even in 2015, despite the glorious Wofford win.

And we're talking about this shite now in Mike's tenure

It takes more than 6 years to rebuild a basketball team

Nah it takes recruits. If Mike really is finally starting to lock down the Little Rock area recruits, it's gonna be some fun seasons. Little Rock produces an insanely disproportionate amount of talent for its size and is a necessity for us to be the top dawgs in if we want to compete in the NCAA tournament.

This "year 6" angle isn't an argument, he's been here long enough to have ups and downs. We were on a steady incline his first 4 years which culminated in the best team we've had in decades. Right now he's in a slump but his recruiting has improved a great deal.

If we miss the tournament, I'll be open to the idea of a new coach but I feel like some people will completely lose their minds if we don't fire him. The gnashing of teeth is getting out of hand.

I fear that apathy is setting in and whole generations of hog fans are writing off the basketball program completely.

It already has, most current students aren't that into the basketball program because there's been no sweet 16 appearances since they've been alive, what is there to even get excited about?

That's a little extreme. Last year we were pretty bad and were still 12th in the country in attendance.

We just had 16,000+ for the Lsu game a few weeks ago. You're way off here.

Not sure how you can fully argue his recruiting has improved a great deal...Maybe starting with this season but absolutely nothing to show for the last couple years.

We have 0 sophomores on the team and not a single recruit from last season minus Thomas after losing 5-6 guys the year before. Kiko had to dress last year for the Red-White game due to lack of bodies and Manny only got a scholly because we had 3-4 available if I remember correctly

Last year was a fluke, we lost 6 players off the previous year's team and Beard had to sit out the first semester. That's not normal.

I don't see how you could argue that his recruiting hasn't improved. That's pretty much the only thing people are giving him credit for right now, and looks to be the thing keeping him employed.

As it's been said before, all about what have you done for me lately, so if you look at the next couple classes he's obviously put in more work and improving now yes.

But as you pointed out we lost 6 guys, yes doesn't happen often, but he had to know those guys could all potentially leave after the season. One would assume, logically, he would bring in more than 2 guys. One of which was going to be ineligible last year anyway (Thomas). Looks as if he just didn't try or took the year off recruiting
