Is Long's raise/extension significant in regards to the coaching search?

Does it mean he has his man and is being rewarded or maybe a way to show candidates that he will be around a while? Or is it just a coincidence?

Shows that his boss sure is happy about something.

I hope so. It would be a dick move to give the AD an extension during one of the most crucial coaching searches in out history for something not related to said search.

It is a sign of stability.

Shows the next HC, Mike Anderson, Van Horn, who they can expect to report to for the next five years or so.

With all the money being invested in the "master plan", shows the boosters that the plan is still on course.

I believe he has his number one guy sowed up, I have heard the name and if it comes true then I would be happy with it as long as we get a defensive coordinator worth their salt.

The extension for Long was the first stone needed to be able to secure this coach. Once it is done then look for an announcement quickly the first week in December. It is not Gruden but a very good coach none the less.

It is interesting though because it tells me some things.

1. Jeff long is doing well by the university
2. Jeff Long hasn't dropped the ball on the coaching hire. (I won't say he's made a hier yet yet but he has definitely done enough to make the powers that be happy.
3. The JLS experiment had surprising results to everyone in the know.
4. The bobby petrino situation was handled with the universities best interest in mind
5. His contract was up for review.
