Is HDN a better motivator than BB

HDN never had an issues getting his boys to play in LR.

HDN teams were ALWAYS physical.
He may have got out classed by more talent and almost always had poor QB play but always had his boys physically ready to play.

Please explain this to me.

He was from LR so it probably meant something to him. To everyone else on earth that place is a dump that you try to get the game over with and leave

I mentioned this the other day in a post. With HDN at the helm we could play with anyone in LR. With Bielema at the helm, I am scared to play Texas State in LR.

The problem is it shouldn't have taken any motivation.

Even with last season, the previous two with this group were embarrassing and they should have some pride.

It was shocking how they didn't adjust AT ALL at halftime when it was clear Toledo was ready to kick our arse.

I get a flat first half, it happens, but the rest of the game? Give me a break.

What? We out gained them 237-102 in the second half. Outside of one Toledo drive, they pretty much shut down their offense completely. On offense, four of our five second half drives went in to the red zone. We were clearly the better team in the second half. We just couldn't stick the ball in the end zone to save our lives which lost us the game.

That's what I'm talking about.

I meant more of an attitude adjustment. And we still couldn't run the ball for shite.

HDN wanted pats on the back from his home town

It's obvious the University wants to be done with playing there...I'm fine with it and I'm here in LR

motivator... yes HDN was better.
X and O and recruiter... no BB is better.

I will say that I think it meant more to HDN to be the head coach at U of A than it does BB. I think over time he lost sight of that but the early years with HDN were fun... I think sometimes as fans we forget that because of how it ended.

It's a dump from the fans perspective but that shouldn't have anything to do with whats on the field.
If a player or coach is worried about what the stadium looks like once the game starts then we are already beat.

If the fans don't like to play there then that's one thing but to blame it on the WMS is just cop out.

The Boston Garden was considered the biggest dump in the NBA in the 80s. Did it affect how well their team performed?

While I don't loathe HDN, though I do wish I could forget the misery of his last few years here, I can honestly say I saw Nutt coached teams at Arkansas get slapped around quite a few times. We all not so fondly remember some games during Nutt's tenure that we'd rather forget.

Now Bielema has some issues to correct, and correct quickly, going into the Tech game. He set himself, and us, for open ridicule nation wide by talking big and then finding a way to lose to a team that should have been a comfortable victory. How we do in the Tech game is going to have a major impact on the rest of Coach B's tenure here.

Right now, I'd be scared to play Hendrix at WMS. Whether we want to admit it or not, Bielema's teams have always come out flat in Little Rock.

I'm not bashing Bielema, just pointing out that he's been pretty overt about disliking having to play a home game 200 miles from campus, and it's rubbed off on our players. It's a tangible reality now that our roster isn't comprised of Central/East/Lower Arkansas players anymore (which is a good thing) who saw these games as some sort of homecoming.

The same HDN who lost to Jack Crowe's Jacksonville State in 2010?

I think it also had a little to do with the general zeitgeist. College football has come a long way since Nutt's tenure, and things in the SEC have certainly changed, too. He got out at just the right time, because you saw how long it took him to start losing games like Toledo over at Ole Miss.

Many people see playing in Little Rock differently now than they did when Nutt was hired. You can tell Bielema sees it as an archaic and obsolete tradition, and many of our fans are in agreement with him. Some of the older fans are holding onto that romanticized love for WMS and the good times that were had there, but it's just not the venue or the game it used to be, and the past several years have shown that to be true.

I don't know that I could say he was a better motivator than Coach BB but I believed him to be a good motivational speaker.

He spoke to a small group of us in the legal field at a meeting in Fayetteville during the time he was coach and I was duly impressed.
