I'm officially rooting for Arkansas to lose the rest of their games.... The ship has fricking sunk with a fatass Captain on board...
And I'm actually doing it "for the kids" as they say. They played their asses off and deserve better...Just think about all the close games some of these dudes have lost only to look to a dumb, clueless fatass for answers....

Long won't fire Bielema this year.
Going to the donors and asking them to cut a $15M check - which was 100% his frick up - would be an admission of failure and something that might end in him getting fired.

Exactly. I hate to root for our guys (who could have gone elsewhere but chose Arkansas) to lose, but it's for the good of the program at this point.

If Long had any sense whatsoever, he'd be telling Bert's agent that he'll tear up the $2M buyout clause if Bert happens to want to leave for another program.

That buyout stays at or almost above to 8 mil until 2020. 7.9 mil in 2019 and 4 mil in 2020. Long likely goes down with the ship in all of this.

I think I just decided I'm at that point. The best (worst?) part is if I do that, I'll actually get what I want most of the time for the first time in six years. Part of me wants to believe that another 3 win season can't possibly be ignored. 15 million or not, something has to be done if it gets bad enough.

It really is a lose/lose Win/Lose situation.
If we lose all the games with what should be considered a decently talented team, who would want to come here as coach or recruit.
If we win enough for Bert to stay, who really wants to come here as a recruit, and we know we wont win crap.

Long is a terrible AD, but he's not that stupid (surely not, right?). If he tries to go down with the USS Bert and simply live out the entirety of Bert's contract, he won't be the AD to see it through. His best case scenario is that Bert walks for another job at the end of this year.
However, whatever coach he hires in that hypothetical better win real quick.
