that the Mens' bball program is in purgatory for Nolan. Why is that?

Because we've pretty much sucked since he got fired.

So we are being punished?

CBB is all about coaching and being dirty enough to get the talent.

Because people took success for granted and then look 20 years later and try to justify that it's still there when it's gone and possibly will never come back.
If you're honest people up here got spoiled as did some of the administration.

I was thinking about this while I was driving home earlier. Nolan was unquestionably a Top 10 coach.
We've not had a Top 10 coach since his firing.
Heath was a reactionary hire tinged with white guilt and racial covering your arse motivation.
Altman wasn't a Top 10 coach, he's proven to not even be a Top 25 coach in the college ranks.
Anderson isn't a Top 10 coach either. He's in the Top 25 most likely, but his stubborness to not upgrade his staff drops him down a few notches because recruiting is always going to be a point of contention. They don't do terrible at recruiting but they're not doing enough to be ahead of the pack.
eta: The point where our program was in the early 2000's we should have been able to attract better coaches than Heath and Pelphrey. It's all about the coaches in the college game.

CBB doesn't have anything to do with men's bball, but if that is the reason, guess I understand then

Altman would've been a great hire.
I really do not know why he backed out. People up here expected Anderson to be Nolan. Problem is That was unrealistic. I think the Anderson hire was bad because it was no win. The next hire has to be someone who will be a great communicator. There's been horrific communication since Richardson, a portion of the base seems alienated.
Just my view.

He backed out because everyone was ineligible and he was told something totally different.

Altman actually got a look at the team from the inside and saw how bad the situation was. Said F this.

I had heard that and drug use on team but never know/knew what to believe.

You have your Anderson Altman ranking reversed.
Altman is the better coach he adjusts his style to his players.

CBB = college basketball, not the football HC

The Heath and Pelphrey hire set this program back 10 years. We still have not recovered. That and college basketball is completely different from what it was in the 90s.

He backed out because everyone was ineligible and he was told something totally different.
He was promised he bring his entire support staff including the academic support staff from Creighton by Broyles.
John White stepped in and said he could not, he would have to keep many of the people already in place.
This was after White told Heath his job was safe while Broyles was in talks with Gillespie.
The majority of the program's problems back then was because of a pissing match between White and Broyles, White won the majority of these and led to Heath, Pel, and the contract extensions for Nutt.

The biggest factor is that we won't pay players. I admire Mike for not rolling in the mud, but it may end up being his downfall.
