I'm 6'2 and i could outwork him on the blocks. And what the heck is he doing shooting 3's?

Thank goodness. Clarke will work 10 times as hard.

He's frustrating to watch. Seems to have regressed on defense.

The whole team has regressed.

in general our entire basketball IQ just seems to be in the shitter. we don't play smart at all.

1. Other than Powell and Young we have no shooters.
2. We are slow to rotate and pick up the shooter on defense.
3. We look lost on offense.
4. We have no inside presence (fix is coming)
5. We don't dictate the pace we beat Michigan last year by playing fast.

FIFY
Last years team would lose this game by 30

I think so too.

I agree with OP, Mickelson needs to head to UCA next year.
Disagree with others that we have regressed.
Today was the best game I've seen us play this year and dating back to early next year at home.
Our assignments aren't all there on O or D, but I think some of you forget that we play a TON of true freshmen and Clarke is new too. Bell, Wagner, Clarke, Williams, Qualls all play a decent minutes. Clarke plays 18 minutes+.
They're young, and Scott sucks which doesn't help.
If they play like today in the SEC, they'll win quite a few games.

Ideally when Mike got the job, he would have kept Powell, Young, Madden, and Haydar (since he doesn't cost a scholly) and kicked the rest to the curb, but the APR wouldn't allow that.
Pel's CUSA level recruiting is responsible for what we see, yes we are young, yes we are again relying on true freshmen and young guys. The "veterans" just are not SEC caliber, it isn't their fault they are here, but its going to take Mike another year or two to cycle them out and some Mens in...

Exactly.
Did people really expect to have this turned around 8 games into Anderson's second year? Other than HiV tards?
We're recruiting damn well, have a little patience.

Yeah, some think Pel had some master plan, and that last class was the "finishing touches" before it all came together. Nothing could be further from the truth. Mike does have a plan, but he had no foundation to build upon, so we should see some positive results next year, although against cuse and michigan we saw some flashes, both are good teams and deserving of their rankings, IMO, we just do not have the outside shooters to beat their zones.
On the other hand, there isn't exactly elite zone teams like those two in the SEC, so I like our chances in conference play with how the team is built this year, I'm not expecting NCs this year, I think they will be competitive in SEC play.

mick still has alot of upside imo. for one, his offense really came through at times today, and that's something that has been lacking outside of bj powell.
its pretty clear being a power around the boards isnt his game, but thats what we need from our only big guy. bobby and moses will take some heat off him. if he learns to block out he'll be fine.

Michigan's post players are some of the best in college right now, Mickelson has problem of making himself 5' tall when going up for a shot and that isn't going to work against players of that caliber.
On the other hand, those guys aren't use to playing against guys his size who has his range and ability to knock down shots away from the basket.
He isn't big enough to move guys like that away from the basket consistently for rebound either, but I'm not sure we would want him to be, (anyone remember Jennings from the 90s?) speed vs size is the trade off in Anderson's system as well as trading rebounds for turnovers.
People get hung up on the rebounds, but as long as you are not giving up offensive boards, it really isn't that big of a deal, yes, you would like second, third, fourth shots on your end, but if you are not giving your opponent second, third, fourth opportunities not biggie really. So you are getting out rebounded by 15, but you force 15 more turnovers, at the end of the day it a wash as far as possessions, just do not try to explain this a mizzou fan...

he looks pretty good running down for a block, and he gets down the floor on the break well for a big guy too. i didnt see him in high school, but im sure he just sat down there and towered over little kids.
i really think he could get adjusted to this kind of play, but i dont ever see him being more than a 15 mins per guy. but i think thats ok.

the thing that rubs me the wrong way about mick is that his offensive game is vastly, vastly overrated. he can't put the ball on the floor, he shoots flat footed and throws the ball at the goal he doesn't shoot with his legs. i actually prefer him shooting fade aways beucase he has to put arc on the ball then, but straight up it's like he's throwing the ball at a catcher's mit lol.
mike jones that uses to paly for the hogs is my first cousin, my dad and his mom are sister and brother. everyday, beucsae he's always been tall, mike's dad would work wtih him on releasing teh ball at the top of his stroke, something that 5'8 guys can take for granted you have to use your legs and release at the top of your stroke but if you are 6'8 or 6'10 you can grow into bad habits, that's why when it comes to big men the best ones generally are ones that had a growth spurt as they learned how to shoot.
i mean what i am trying to say i could put up with ti ALL, the lack of rebounding and all, if he was as good of an offensive threat as advertised. he's not. if i am a defense there is nothign more i love then watching mick take an open 15 foot jumper with ihs face to the basket he's gonna miss it and it's not gonna be close beucase he's gonna clank it and we are going to get an easy rebound/ break.
his entier game/rankings were built around him being 6'10, white and having a decent looking stroke, but he still has very fricked up mechanics.
