Long story short, a good buddy of mine in our AD texted me today and said that "some higher up at LSU contacted our (football) ops dept.... Here's the kicker, they didn't call to speak to Bielema, it was for Dan"
This guy has no reason to lie or tell me this out of the blue for no reason, but was telling me this in a more comical manner like the people in the athletic department were having a good laugh about it. If this is true, it would totally shake the beliefs of about 99% of the posters on the coaching changes board who believe they have Fisher or Herman completely locked down.
I asked him when this call took place and he said that he thinks it was yesterday but wasn't 100% sure. He also wasn't 100% sure it was about the HC gig, most there assumed it was OC related. Either way it would appear that their coaching search isn't going as well as hoped. I just hope we don't lose Enos in some way, but i wouldn't blame him in the least bit if this was truly the case.

More likely someone calling to find an OC for Orgeron if that is to be believed.
Also, did Dan take the call? It's not as funny if he did.

honestly, it won't win the press conference but it would be probably the best hire they could make. terrifies me to think about it. i don't want him there.

Confused as to why everyone thinks he'll be some great HC. He already did poorly at CMU.

They'd have to give him some bullshite Assoc. HC title, I would hope that fatty has already done that so it invokes the non-compete clause.
Bert with his pants down wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Apparently he wasn't in at the time and a message was left for him, which was how this all came to be known (even though it wasn't supposed to be).
I don't see them reaching out to gauge potential OCs if they should keep O at this time, unless they're 100% on board and going with him. Either way it doesn't bode well for LSU fans, but would make for one epic melt on tRant.

I'm just basing it off an article on saw on Twitter this week about O promising the LSU AD that he could bring in an elite OC if he was head coach full time. Enos would make sense in that scenario.

Does Enos have a clause in his contract about going to another sec team?

CMU isn't in the same universe as LSU. Look what a trained monkey can do at LSU. I'm not saying Les is a shitty coach by any means but a motivated guy could be very dangerous there. Especially knowing Saban will be gone soon.

Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema said Georgia Coach Kirby Smart contacted him to ask for permission to interview Enos. However, when informed that Enos' contract included a "non-compete" clause with other SEC schools, Smart backed off and hired former Arkansas offensive coordinator Jim Chaney away from Pittsburgh.

pretty sure he took them to back to bcak bown games. that's pretty damn good at CMU

He was actually a pretty huge drop off from their previous two coaches which were Brian Kelly and Butch Jones. Their fans wanted him fired for the most part and were definitely not sad to see him go.

But that's not how it works.

The non-compete clauses our coaches have are for lateral moves inside the conference.
which is why I said they'd have to give him a superficial title that could be argued as a step up from O.C.
I just checked the Arkansas site and Enos is listed as Offensive Coordinator/QB Coach.
So LSU could steal him with an offer of Assoc. Head Coach title.

Aranda is LSU's Assoc HC
If they name him HC then maybe Enos makes sense.

it's a superficial title, they could have 7 Assoc. HC's

Not sure you can have more than one Assoc HC but you are right about titles.
They could do like UCLA who has these titles on current staff.
Assoc. Head Coach/Run Game Coordinator/Offensive Line
Assistant Head Coach-Defense/Defensive Backs
Senior Associate Head Coach/Tight Ends
Quarterbacks/Passing Game Coord.

My opinion is LSU has themselves in a mess right now. They're banking on Jimbo Fisher coming in. As last year proved, that is far short of a slam dunk.
So, right now Texas is open and it looks to be that Herman is their man. So, what is LSU left with? They seem to forget what their program was like prior to Saban arriving in the early 2000's.
LSU lost Charles McClendon as their head coach in 1979. He was arguably their best coach in their history, considering the years he coached there. From 1980-1999 LSU only won 55% of their games. They won one outright conference title, but even that season they only went 8-4. They also had a co-title, but again, only went 8-4 that season as well.
I think their AD is pretty much inept at some things. For their sake, I hope he does something he doesn't regret in 5 years.

So the NOLA Times has Enos listed as an OC candidate LSU is considering. Hopefully there is nothing to it but this phone call makes me a little nervous.
