How do you not throw a flag here?

I wasn't really rooting for one side or another, but Clemson ran some of the most blatant illegal picks I've ever seen all night last night, including the game winning play. How do you not throw a flag when a WR goes for the knees of a corner, taking two defenders out in the process?

I was listening to Cowherd today and he was talking about this play and I actually agreed with him. He was talking about how in championship games the refs tend to let the teams just duke it out and let the players decide. I'm perfectly fine with them not throwing a flag there.

Now, I think the earlier pick play was more egregious and probably should have been called.

But on that last play Bama shouldn't have been in man knowing the refs weren't going to call pick plays

Rules are there to be enforced. You shouldn't have to completely alter your defense because the refs won't do their damn job and uphold the rules, especially something as blatant as illegal picks.

Eh, you can definitely make an argument that the Bama defender chose to engage with him at the same time. He was dumb to grab the WR like that because if he just lets the WR push him back into his teammate it would/should have been called. The TD before that should be your real complaint it was much worse than this one.

Are we looking at the same gif?

In that one the Alabama DB initiates contact by grabbing the Clemson WR by the shoulders and pulls him down.

No kidding. That's defensive holding as much as it is an illegal pick.

Are you serious Drewbie?

The TD before absolutely....but the gif you posted the defender initiates the contact and wraps his arms around the receiver and tackles him.

If any thing its defensive holding.
