Hats off to Fort Smith putting this together, whoever did it.
It means I will most likely take at least one deliberate trip to downtown Fort Smith sometime soon.

Steve Clark (CEO of Propak not the former AG) was pretty much responsible for it. He's a great guy that gives a lot back to the community.
It really is amazing how much it's transformed Ft. smith and the attitudes surrounding it. Lots of people from NWA going down there to check out the murals.

Wow. Saw that top one in my FB feed this week but didn't know what it was from.

They brought in world-class street artists and paid them to paint those buildings. Some of them are incredible. Several of the artists are from other countries. I really like the Old West themes. Perfect for Fort Smith.

If you go down, be sure to stop by the new UAFS fine arts building. They have a street artist print exhibit (some Banksy and a bunch of other famous ones) up through October. That new Fine Arts building is sweeet, too.

Only a shithead wouldn't know the difference between graffiti and commissioned art.

I love it!! I often go shoot murals and outdoor art.
NWA is soooooo uninspiring in the towns. I've bitched about this before on here. Then a few days later the Walton Foundation announced their $30Million initiative to improve the landscape architecture in NWA.

It's actually not funded by taxpayers in this case.

Nope, privately funded.

Good lord are you blind? Some of those pieces are amazing.

I'd wear all but the last 2 if they were t-shirts. Maybe they should license the designs to make shirts and use the proceeds to help maintain those murals and commission more.
I absolutely love it for Ft. Smith. NWA is really trying to portray being artsy, but there's Alice's garage and that's about it.

Most of the art isn't my cup of tea but I think its a great idea for Fort Smith. The city has really stepped up its game of late.

The artists are also really, really well known within the global street art/mural community. They didn't spare any expense in bringing in some of the best in the world.
This link is filtered to bring up the various posts about the murals from Street Art News. Pretty cool to read about all of them and see Ft. Smith getting that kind of international exposure.

Yeah, the first two are right up there with the best stuff I've ever seen, anywhere.
Fayetteville just got another Jason Jones mural downtown, which is great, but pales in comparison to this stuff.

Fayetteville has always had an artsy vibe. Bentonville's is deliberate and forced, but I'll be damned if they don't have the $$$ to force it to happen.
Springdale's downtown restoration plans are just starting to get going, but I am still pretty skeptical. If Fayetteville were more expensive, I could see it driving artists and hipsters to Springdale, but we aren't at that point yet.

Yeah, the Jason Jones timing was a little unfortunate. I really like Jason and his artwork, but that latest mural just doesn't do it for me. I don't want to call it pablum... but it's very, very vanilla and safe. Kind of looks like something a mom would paint on the wall in her infant daughter's bedroom above the crib.
I hate to be jerky like that, but when you compare with the Ft. Smith murals, it just doesn't compare favorably.

He also begged the A&P for the max award of $30k but they only funded $10k.
Fayetteville really hasn't been that artsy. It's picked up in the last 7-8 years a lot of it is funded by the city. You have a small community of students and U of A connected people but a true art community Fville is not. Eureka has been the crown holder for the past half century.
The more the better IMO though
