If there is a place on this site where this should be, let me know.

I have a Logitech Mouse M510... Every time I restart my computer I need to reinstall the driver for the mouse... My problem, now that I have windows 10 it seems I am incapable of knowing how to do this.

I have been trying to find the driver for the mouse to install on ligitech.com to no avail. I cant get it to work. I paid for this to be done twice and am tired of losing my cash. thanks in advance...

And yes, I am an idiot..

That's really odd it should install automatically.

You can usually find the driver on the manufacturer's website if you can't find it in your computer.

Don't ever pay anyone to install drivers for you. You are getting ripped off. Does the mouse not work at all when you boot up the PC?

no,, the mouse quits working when booted. I checked the manufacturer web site and couldn't find the driver myself. I will look again, there are set points, etc. But I used to just be able to find the exact driver.. not sure.

It is weird. All of this happened following downloading windows 10 and going through the security at the airport. I blame them

You may have to install manually through device manager under Control Panel/SYSTEM/Hardware Tab/Device Manager by using keyboard commands such as TAB, arrow keys, ENTER, etc. Alt+Tab changes windows.

If the driver (executable)is not on a separate disk, the needed files are probably in your windows/system directory.

And also make sure you have no conflicting devices in device manager.

I tried the device manager trick, not even listed... totally gone. Only the synaptics device listed, as in the keyboard.

Strange indeed

Since the mouse is not showing at all, you may have to try through Control Panel - Add Hardware. Do a manual installation and hopefully, the various driver files are either in your system folder or on your windows installation disk.

It's a lot more trouble without a mouse. It's kind of like when I have to search for my specs (extremely near sighted) with no specs to see.

I hope this helps.

That's the easy route for certain.

Hopefully it is plugged in. I've made that mistake.

Get an Apple and ditch the PC.

You might also try plugging the mouse into a different USB port to see if that will help.

Go in safe mode and delete the ghost drivers then re install

You have multiple drivers and window doesn't know which to use

I deal with goofy shite like this all the time at work. I really like Windows 10 myself, but it has some stupid quirks with drivers in general. Windows wants to replace your drivers with their shitty generic drivers. I'll research your problem to see if I can find the specific bug if you really want to use that mouse. In the meantime just go get a $10 mouse so you can function.

This begin after a flight. Bought a new mouse, same thing happened to it.

I have 3 of them at this point...

It just continually happens. Crazy stuff. and yes, Windows 10 is Satanic as Hades

How long ago did you upgrade? You can go back to your previous operating system if it has been less than 30 days.

Also, post your PC model and specs if you can. That will help in the troubleshooting process.

This is a possible solution.

If you can get one of the mouses you bought to work go in and do this.

You can disable Hybrid shutdown (or "fast startup", as it is called in Win 10) via Control Panel:
- open "Power Options"
- open "Choose what the power buttons do"
- click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable"
- uncheck "Turn on fast startup"
