but we are changing our entire defensive scheme to something that is poor vs misdirection offenses when the roles are fresh. lots of blown assignments in our next season

I like Rhoads but I wonder how long it'll take the defense to gel. We saw in 14 how it took a few games for them to find their groove. I could see us having some defensive problems and dropping TCU and A&M and starting off on a bad foot.

I still haven't forgiven Bert for the back to back blown half time leads. He doesn't get 9 wins this year I'm done with him.

To be fair, one of the games was to the powerhouse of Mizzou in a very hostile crowd

The OL better make huge strides in run blocking/getting push, or we are looking at a season similar to last year.

I actually don't have high hopes for this year.
I think 2018 is the year. Jr agim, Sr greenlaw, Jr dejon Harris, Sr pulley, sophomore highly rated DB's from this last class. Sr safety in ramirez. Britto tutt who was supposed to play this year will be a Sr. Will bijon Jackson still be here this year? Randy ramsey will be a sr. This defense will be so loaded with talent, and experience it's gonna be insane. Expect us to take a huge leap after our first year of struggles with 3/4 transition.
Offensive line will have 3 srs, 2 which are RS srs, the other 2 should atleast be RS JR'S. WR core will be mainly jr, sr's. TE's will be RS jrs/ juco sr. Either a Sr rawliegh williams, or jr whaley will be the feature back. The only thing is we will be using a RS soph in Kelly at qb. Whom just has to be sec starter material and we can use the run game/play action pass to make his life easy. I expect this team to be one of the better ones we have had in a long time.
This year's team will have to be carried by austin. Inexperienced defense will have Inconsistent play, will be a liability at times like the o line last year.

Agree with all of this. I'm not sold we'll be bad this year, but I'll also admit that I have quite literally no clue what direction we're headed. We could finish anywhere between 5-7 and 10-3 in 2017, anything outside of that would genuinely surprise me.
Inversely, I will say that I'm not the least bit enthusiastic about Bert's in-game coaching given his track record of late game choking. We could not have ended the 2016 season on a worse note with what happened against Mizzou and Va. Tech. Also, we're overhauling our defense, and our strength & conditioning program absolutely sucks. So there's that.

i have zero expectations. bert's on my list, justifiably i do think. it's gonna take a whole lot of wins and not choking repeatedly before i actually have expectations again.
