Barring a collapse of John L. Smith proportions I think he gets another year after this, if only because of the buyout from hell.

Right now, to me, Bert is like that really funny and friendly guy you work with who is always talking up how big his sales are going to be. A great guy you have over for a cook out and a few beers.

Who consistently brings in below average money for the company and leaves work for everyone else in the office to finish. At some point, great guy or not, the company has to give that guy his walking papers and bring in someone else because he just is not doing the job you hired him to do.

I don't expect a string of National titles or ten wins every season. But a competitive team that plays hard for all four quarters is not asking too much.
